The Victorian state government COVID test site map, and a whole range of other online maps, are currently missing their basemap due to a problem this morning with the Vicmap basemap service. We've switched our Victorian clients over to OpenStreetMap until it comes back up again.
I've discovered a curious inclusion on official Victorian government maps. It's a mysterious location called Brophys Crossing near Werribee. A Google search of Brophys Crossing shows only sites that seem to have scraped location names, mostly to appear as local businesses!
Good morning Melbourne! It's great to be back in the city again after 10 months. Starting back at the office one day a week for a while.
Success! After @businessvic ditched their dodgy @salesforce form, I was able to apply for the Vic Gov tourism voucher in about 90 seconds. This is what a good government solution looks like.
Amateur hour is brought to you today by @businessvic and @salesforce. So far I've filled in the Vic Gov tourism voucher application twice, and both times failed.
Weird changes in Google Maps. Melbourne is now in a forest.
Checking into #gischat from Victoria.
What do folks think of the google maps cartography changes?

These guys walking against a tide of 50K Jehovah's Witnesses on their way to Docklands for a mega conference. The front of their shirts say "I escaped from the Jehovah's Witnesses" #JWProtestAus
OK this one was a bit trickier. Extracting the existing school zones from @DETVic website involves downloading and merging 100+ vector tile files. I've documented the process here: github.com/simonokeefe/my-lo… Download data from here: github.com/simonokeefe/my-lo…
