What happens when fish have more than one sex chromosome? More than two phenotypic sexes! Evolutionary consequences pondered in PNAS. Proud to have worked with @reade_roberts, @fishnotfish, @craig_albertson, Pat Ciccotto, and Melissa Lamm doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2118574…
Stop by the Evolutionary Biology session today and check @katderieg talk on mitonuclear discordance in some naughty Neotoma! #asm2021
Really great symposium and panel discussion today at #ASM2021 on Mammalian Pathobiology and Museums. Need to keep working at integrating museum collections in to emergent pathogen research.

#418 first multilocus multispecies coalescent approach to Neotoma systematics. We find that mitonuclear discordance in woodrats is likely due to historical hybridization; specifically there is a signature of asymmetric mitochondrial introgression. Those naughty Neotoma!
Early morning tapeworm review in Starbucks with Scott Gardner. Even got it signed. Could go for a pretty penny at the auction maybe? #ASM100
