From the start, @cmckenney has been a huge supporter of the @slowottawa campaign, and its spinoffs @VisionZeroCA & @Love30ca.
They are a bold and unflinching supporter of social, economic & environmental sustainability.
They're the brightest hope for Ottawa.

Ottawa voters, you have a rare chance to really turn the corner in a positive way for your city on Monday. @cmckenney is the best mayoral candidate your city has seen in a long time & with the new “strong mayor” powers being given to mayors, this election is especially important.
Take it from Canada's leading urbanist. VOTE!
From what I’ve seen and heard, @cmckenney has the potential to be a truly transformative mayor for Ottawa, a city that is in real need of transformative thinking at this moment in its history. Ottawa Tweeps, please share, discuss, and #VOTE!

When our city was being occupied, and harassed, with violence, debilitating noise, and constant threats to resident safety, many politicians did nothing. @CMcKenney stood up and gave me hope, I joined them then as I join them now, for #Ottawa. #Ottnews #Ottcity

Not that finger-wagging matters.

I am happy to announce we are the first community in Ottawa where all residential streets are at 30km/hr speed limits

This is the way to do 30k.
Re-set the limits in a wide swath, focussing on residential streets.
Then you can install speed bumps & other calming measures to align with that ppl-friendly limit.
Congrats to @MathieuFleury, & to all who made this happen.

A fabulous 😊 community map showing, with this morning's committee approval (in blue), that #Lowertown, #SandyHill and #Vanier communities residentials streets are 30km/h speed limits.
A first in #Ottawa 👋

BREAKING: Tonight the City of Kingston, Canada became one of the first medium/smaller cities that I’m aware of to get rid of PARKING MINIMUMS for all non-residential land uses, affordable housing & heritage projects city-wide, plus establish new parking MAXIMUMS across the city!
NEW: Interested in a BETTER conversation on parking, & a VERY different approach to municipal parking strategy, for much better city-building outcomes? Our game-changing new @CityofKingston Parking doc is a must-read. See our preamble: #ThePowerOfParking cityofkingston.ca/documents/…

This would be a good time for a serious conversation about making CENTRAL OTTAWA “vehicle-light” (no thru traffic; local & disabled vehicle access-only; no non-delivery truck access; reduced street parking; better walking/biking/transit infrastructure) as other cities are doing.

If #cycling #helmets mitigate injury then we should promote them & even mandate them, right?
Wrong, sez Dr. @HarryRutter. Cycling is benign, helmet protection is meagre, & we need to focus on eliminating the cause.
