Today a group of 80-100 Kurdish IDPs from Tell Abyad/Gire Spi visited the District administration (36.688206, 38.945825). This was reportedly to submit documents proving ownership of stolen properties rather than an organized return convoy. Soon after a mob assembled outside the compound and began torching the IDPs' cars, trapping them inside. ISF later deployed reinforcements including Kobani commander Majd 'Isa al-Sheikh to return the IDPs back to Kobani xeber24.org/?p=57806 facebook.com/Nucayengirespi/…

#Update | Nearly 20 Cars Belonging to Displaced Kurdish Families Smashed and Burned in Tal Abyad Amid "Allahu Akbar" Chants, Under the Watch of HTS-led General Security Militias #Raqqa Countryside | Tal Abyad City (Girê Spî): Individuals among the displaced mobs occupying Kurdish homes in the city of Tal Abyad smashed and set fire to roughly 20 cars belonging to displaced Kurds, pelting them with stones and sticks, amid gunfire and chants of "Allahu Akbar," all under the watch of the #HTS-led General Security militias. According to sources, the assault took place as dozens of displaced Kurds arrived at the Tal Abyad district administration building to submit documents proving ownership of their land and properties in the city and its countryside, in preparation for reclaiming them, amid threats against some of the returnees and an almost complete absence of any security intervention to stop the attacks. Kurdish channel Rudaw reported that dozens of Kurds remain trapped inside one of the buildings, with no confirmed information about their situation available so far.
🚨#NothernSyria | #Raqqa:Displaced Kurdish families attacked while trying to return to their homes in Tal Abyad (Gire Spi) On Monday, 26 October 2026, displaced Kurdish families were attacked by large crowds in the city of Tal Abyad (Girê Spî) , northern Raqqa countryside, as they tried to return to their homes and villages after years of displacement. Their cars were smashed and some were set on fire, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and circulating video footage. According to a private source cited by Rudaw, around 100 Kurdish returnees, including women and children, are besieged inside the Area Administration building in Tal Abyad, and their fate remains unknown. This coincided with a gathering in front of the Tal Abyad area command rejecting what protesters described as the return of members of the dissolved SDF to the city. It is worth noting that thousands of Kurdish families were displaced from Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ain following the 2019 Turkish military operation, and many still face obstacles to returning and recovering their property.

With the Syrian Flag and protected by the Syrian MoI these mobs continue to attack Kurdish IDPs. It is yet another stark reminder of the reality in Syria - outside of the theatre for the media, attacks on Kurds by Syrian Arabs are a daily occurrence.
Tal Abyad - Kurdish IDPs who were retuning to their homes in Tal Abyad were attacked by organised mobs of Syrian Arabs. Property was looted, cars were set on fire and people were wounded.

The Royal Jordanian Airforce carried out a series of airstrikes against sites in the Daraa province of Syria. The operation has been called „Jordanian Deterrence - Hamoud“ and is in response to the terror attack in Jordan’s city Al Karak in which 3 attackers attacked Jordanians of the Christian community in a church during a funeral procession, killing 9 and wounding 34 people. In its statement, the Jordanian Airforce stated that several sites in Daraa - linked to the terrorist cell in Syria - have been struck. One of these airstrikes has struck a house in the northeastern region Daraa (Latf village) in which 9 civilians have been killed; likely due to faulty intelligence. In terms of coordination against terror and terroristic cells: - There has been no coordination between the Syrian Transitional Government and the Kingdom of Jordan - The Terror cell(s) operating in Jordan are linked to terroristic structures that continue to operate in Syria Both of these factors are of great importance and concern. Even though Syria has joined the coalition against ISIS and pledged to destroy the terroristic structures operating in Syria - little has been done or changed, observable by the fact that the Jordanian government retaliated that heavily against the structures in Syria and more importantly: they did not coordinate with the Syrian Government during any of these phases.

Reports of violence and persecution against religious and ethnic minorities in Syria are deeply concerning, and those responsible for these abuses must be held accountable. That’s why I’ve introduced the Protection of Syrian Religious and Ethnic Minorities Act. This legislation is necessary to strengthen congressional oversight, identify individuals responsible for serious human rights violations, and ensure the United States is using the tools available to hold perpetrators accountable. Protecting religious freedom and fundamental human rights must remain a priority as Syria navigates its future. Thank you to our friends at @indefchristians, @AlawitesAAUS, and @AmericanSyriacU, for their support.

Turkish authorities have ordered access restrictions on the national and Istanbul X accounts of the Workers’ Party of Turkey @tipgenelmerkezz , a parliamentary party far from us politically, whose right to communicate freely must be respected. Political differences cannot determine who may speak in a democracy. With organisations documenting online censorship also facing restrictions, Europe must stand up for freedom of expression, political pluralism and the rights of opposition voices in Turkey.
