Java is the easiest language for Python devs who have some familiarity with JavaScript and looking to upgrade their arsenal.
Its concepts are very similar to Python's while the syntax is very similar to Javascript's.
Telusko has a nice 2hr Java for Programmers video on youtube. The only major challenge left will be understanding Java's ecosystem: Maven, Gradle and Jar etc.

I started with consulting firms (mostly in Europe) and got on calls with two founders yesterday. Closed one today (just $400/landing page)
And guess what? I only needed to rewrite one from scratch, screenshot the pages and instructed grok to give me the prompts that produced the landing page. Then I fielded it into Claude to generate a new landing page and designed using their brand identity. Maybe a side hustle to make quick bucks
How much do Nigerians spend monthly on visa applications?
How much does Nigerian elites spend on their kids/wards studying abroad?
Compare that to this remittance then you have a truly transparent and honest stat.
NIGERIANS ABROAD SENT HOME A RECORD $1.57 BILLION IN THREE MONTHS
Nigeria recorded $1.57 billion in diaspora remittance inflows through International Money Transfer Operators (IMTOs) in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria's Q2 Statistical Bulletin.
The figure represents:
• A 33% increase from the $1.18 billion recorded in Q2 2025.
• The highest quarterly inflow in the available CBN data series covering 2019–2026.
• A new record, surpassing the previous high of approximately $1.47 billion in Q3 2024.
Monthly figures show:
• April: $513.81 million
• May: $472.13 million
• June: $580.16 million
NiDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, says the figures highlight the important contribution of Nigerians abroad to household support and the country's economic stability.
One important distinction: these figures cover transfers through formal international money transfer operators, not every channel through which Nigerians abroad send money home.
The bigger opportunity is turning these inflows into more than household support — by building confidence in formal channels and attracting diaspora investment into productive sectors.

Over the weekend, I wanted to learn about the history of flight. I didn't want to read or watch a video, I wanted to experience it so I built a different learning experience that is immersive, interactive, fun and experiential. Built with Claude Opus 5.5. The video was also done and edited with Claude (expect the part I had to record myself of course).
At this point, Java is definitely trolling.

📊 Dispersion is more than statistical noise—it reveals how data truly behaves.
From Range and Variance to Standard Deviation, MAD, IQR, and CV, understanding variability is essential for interpreting uncertainty, detecting outliers, and making better data-driven decisions.
An underrated benefit of AI is how it easily detects semantic typos in your code.

Do you still keep your SSH terminal open throughout your long-running script?
What if your internet suddenly disconnects at 98% completion?
Exactly, that's why you're getting bald at a young age.
Meet GNU Screen.
It lets you run persistent terminal sessions on a remote server.
With Screen, you can easily detach, disconnect, come back later, and reattach to the session.
I've attached a cheatsheet for you.
PS: Screen won't protect your wrorkflow if the server itself crashes or reboots.

What's next after mastering Desktop GIS?
Once you've established confidence in Desktop GIS, where do you go next?
Here are six specializations you can explore:
1. Spatial data science: Extract insights and build predictive models from geospatial data.
2. Spatial statistics: Understand spatial patterns, relationships, clustering, and spatial dependence.
3. Spatial data engineering: Build pipelines for collecting, processing, transforming, and managing geospatial data at scale.
4. Spatial software engineering: Build geospatial applications, APIs, and systems.
5. Web cartography and UI/UX: Design interactive maps and intuitive mapping experiences for the web.
6. Spatial databases: Design, query, and optimize databases for storing and analyzing spatial data.
You can also specialize in a field outside geospatial, such as public health, transportation, agriculture, urban planning, or environmental science, and apply GIS to solve problems in that domain.
Mastering GIS is a starting point, not the destination.
I'll be publishing detailed posts on each specialization, what it involves, the skills you'll need, and how to get started.
Follow along and stay tuned!
