What's on Your Mind, Claudia Hart?
Each week, CIFRA invites an artist to pause and look back at the days just lived.
What lingered.
What distracted.
What offered comfort or resistance.
What was read, watched, listened to, and carried.

1/ Today's highlights on our front page ✨
Works by media art pioneer @ClaudiaHart, starting from her first mint on our platform in 2023 to three stunning pieces exhibited in the collective show "We Emotional Cyborgs", curated by @_second_guess Gallery.
The first retrospective of the artist, "Patterns and Politics," opens tomorrow, August 28, at the Francisco Carolinum Linz Museum
@ooeculture and runs until February 8, 2026. This exhibition presents over three decades of Claudia Hart’s boundary-breaking art. Her lush 3D environments fuse scientific models and ornamental flourishes with a playful, critical spirit. It's an event not to be missed.
Hart will also participate in a panel on September 5 at 4 PM at the same institution. The panel, titled "Radical Optimism? Cyberfeminism Then and Now," features Julianne Pierce of VNS Matrix and @Malpractice_net. The discussion will be moderated by Anika Meier @postanika, with an introduction by Julia Staudach.

💭 Claudia Hart: »I actually got no interest and no support from that first and formalistic generation of digital artists. Their work was procedural, meaning driven by algorithms and systems that generated abstract patterns. Mine was feminist, psychological, and expressive, and at base driven by a kind of dialectical mind/body conflict. I wanted my audience to feel their responses, not just think them. My art is phenomenological.«

So many tbh. My curation for the Sotheby’s glitch show is a great start:
Also @JamieFaye, @srcxor, and @generateme_blog
My curatorial texts for @Sothebysverse Glitch: Beyond Binary sale. For those reaching out asking why they weren’t included, I only had 8 slots! It was an extremely difficult decision making process especially given the time crunch. Excited to have more curatorial opportunities coming, so don’t despair ❤️
"Psychic /// Warfare" is a striking visual creation by Katherina "Kate the Cursed" Jesek that delves into the duality of vulnerability and strength. This monochromatic self-portrait, playfully captured and transformed through databending in Audacity, showcases the unique textures and distortion achieved through the artist's chosen medium.
The artwork displays a compelling punk rock vibe, reflecting the artist's own background as a guitarist and composer/producer. The prose written on the piece, including the phrase "glitch art was born in the cracks of society," demonstrates Kate's affinity for discovering beauty in unexpected places and the resilience that can emerge from the darker corners of life.
"Psychic /// Warfare" challenges the viewer to confront their own preconceptions about perfection, pushing them to explore the richness that lies within the chaos of the glitch. The artwork invites us to embrace the unpredictable and the rawness of human experience, a sentiment that resonates within Kate's entire body of work.
By blurring the lines between the digital and the personal, Kate the Cursed has crafted an intimate and thought-provoking piece that invites us to examine the complex layers of our identities and the spaces we occupy in an increasingly digitized world. "Psychic /// Warfare" is a testament to the power of art to challenge, inspire, and ultimately, connect us to the depths of the human spirit.
