Few years ago, we decided to collect additional biological variables across our tACS studies. BDNF genotype was motivated by pioneering work by Dr. B. Fritsch ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2043… Part of our work supported by @USBrainAlliance to understand the mechanism of action of #tACS
The @FrohlichLab recently analyzed BDNF-polymorphism across a number of our previous experiments and found evidence that the effect of tACS on neural oscillations is reduced in Met carriers sciencedirect.com/science/ar… @TrevorSupan @stahn76

Transcranial alternating current stimulation, or tACS, could one day be used to treat people diagnosed with major depression — and it was pioneered right here at #UNC. See why researchers are optimistic about this first-of-its-kind study ⬇️ unc.live/2TFFHMg
