I’ve been talking about @startbuddi for a while. Here’s a proper tour of what we’ve built. 💙
There’s a lot that goes into running a business beyond finding customers. You’re following up, booking calls, planning marketing, managing projects and making sure your team has what they need.
We’ve been building startbuddi to bring that work together, with Chip, our AI assistant, helping along the way.
This video takes you through the different parts of the workspace and how they fit into your working day.
I’m excited to finally show you more of it. Watch the tour and tell me which part you’d use first.
Explore startbuddi.com.
P.S. It’s just under 4 minutes long. Get comfortable. 😊
Last week on X, the small business conversation kept coming back to the same things: cancelling tools, keeping people in the loop with AI, getting paid on time, and running a business beyond the founder's head.
They all point to one idea. A service business runs better when its clients, conversations, money and team share one place.
That's what we're building with startbuddi: one workspace, separate access and roles for each teammate, our AI assistant drafting from your real client records, and a history of who did what.
What's the one thing you want fixed in how your business runs before the year ends?

The year has 60 days left, and November is the quiet one before the rush.
What's the one thing you're fixing in your business before December?
Happy new month from the startbuddi team.
If that one thing is chasing clients, invoices or team updates across different apps, startbuddi puts it all in one workspace.

Being too polite about late invoices is costing small businesses more than they think.
"Just checking in, no rush at all" tells the client there's no rush. So they don't rush.
A friendly reminder before the due date, a clear one on the day, and a firm one a week later is professional. Clients who respect your work will respect your payment terms too.
Which line do you use when an invoice is overdue?

An agency founder asked other agency owners how much clients had failed to pay them. Within a day, the replies added up to more than $4 million in unpaid invoices.
Late payments are the quiet cost of running a service business. You've already paid your team, your tools and your time, and the client is effectively borrowing from you for free.
Most of it is preventable before the work starts: clear payment terms, a deposit at signing, and an invoice that's easy to pay the moment it lands.
What's the longest you've waited to get paid by a client?

Your client says they never approved the extra pages. You know they did. It's in a chat from six weeks ago, somewhere between a voice note and a "thanks, looks great."
Client management gets a lot easier when contracts, approvals and messages all sit on the client's record in startbuddi.
Where does your agency keep client approvals right now?

Your memory is a terrible CRM.
It works with five clients. At fifteen, deadlines and follow-ups start landing on the same day, and the one you forgot is always the one that mattered.
Founders often wear this as a badge: "I just know where everything is." Clients see it differently when a promised update arrives three days late.
Writing things down feels slow until the week you're sick and someone else has to step in.
Which forgotten deadline still haunts you?

Yesterday, I had a demo call with a potential customer for @startbuddi - it came after weeks of silence on signups and demo call requests. I was excited and nervous at the same time.
We did the walkthrough, and imagine my shock when they wanted a quote for the enterprise plan, for not one but multiple clients they were managing!
This came while I was in the middle of thinking about hosting bills from vercel and supabase fees and resend and API fees.
Building a startup is not easy. And that’s why we celebrate the wins when we get them.
A popular take on X this week: don't hire an agency owner under 24, because their operations probably live in the founder's head.
We'd argue age is the wrong test. Plenty of experienced founders run their whole business from memory and WhatsApp, and plenty of young ones have every client, deadline and invoice in a shared system.
The better question for any client to ask: if the founder disappeared for a week, would the work still get done?
What would you ask to check an agency's operations before hiring them?

Our AI assistant inside startbuddi is built around one rule: it prepares, you decide.
It reads the client's record, checks what was quoted and what's still unpaid, and drafts the follow-up. You read it, adjust a line if needed, and send it. Every message stays on the client's history, so your team can pick up where you left off.
That's the balance we think service businesses need from AI: speed on the busywork, and a person on anything that affects the relationship.
Where do you draw the line between what AI handles and what you handle yourself?

AI invoice tools look magical in a demo: upload a PDF, get the right numbers back.
Inside a real business, that's the easy part. Someone still has to approve the invoice, match it to the job, handle the client who disputes one line, and explain the mistake to the accountant.
Before buying any AI tool for your business, ask what work is left after it does its bit, and who does that work. If the answer is "you, in three other apps", the tool has handed you a new project.
What's the most annoying step AI still can't do for you?
