Steve McMahon because I’m absolutely desperate to know why he wore a shirt in the 86 Charity Shield with no Adidas badge or Liver Bird. I asked Jan Molby & Gary Gillespie about it & they had no idea or memory of it. Steve Nicol also wore it in the 86/87 team photo. Here are pics.

Jacquet is magnificent and a massive upgrade on Konate
Jeremy Jacquet vs Brentford

Good 3 points, not many sides leave Brentford with a win. Had Barcola been better on the 3 counter attacks it would have been a thrashing. Thought Andoni got it spot on today putting Munoz right back when Frimpong got hurt and stayed attacking instead of bringing Gomez
A win on the road 🤩

Just watched all 8 episodes in one sitting today and it’s brilliant as well as extremely violent and gory. It’s a true gift to all of us lovers of the Friday the 13th series and packed with Easter Eggs for true fans. I’ll watch my blu ray box set of the movies next #CrystalLake

Just saw Richard Marx live and he was incredible and super talented. It was just him on his own with an acoustic guitar and piano with no band. He’s funny, a great storyteller and his singing voice is so powerful.

We are different level in Europe than in the premier league with the caveat LASK look like a lower EFL side so far

Five games, five wins, top of the league. Manchester City, a fortnight after an independent commission found they systematically broke the Premier League's financial rules for nine straight seasons. So what exactly are we all watching? Not asking for the season to be scrapped. That's daft, and it punishes nineteen clubs who've done nowt wrong. But I'd like somebody at the Premier League to explain why the table at the top of every sports page is one they already know is wrong. Because here's where we actually are. The commission has ruled. City lodged their appeal on October 1st. No sanction has been announced. Nobody knows when it will be. Sky are reporting that Premier League clubs themselves don't expect City to even BE in this league next season if the appeal fails. And in the meantime, the league just carries on. Points are awarded. Positions are published. Clubs are planning January windows around a table that might be fiction. Think about who that actually hurts. Not City, they're fine, they're top. It's the club that goes down in May by two points and later finds out the table was never real. It's the club that sacks a manager in February over a league position that gets rewritten. It's the staff at a relegated club losing their jobs over a season nobody can stand behind. Real money, real people, decided by a table the league itself can't vouch for. And the bit that genuinely sticks in the throat. Everton got docked ten points, mid season, reduced to six. Forest got four. Both for single PSR breaches. Both punished DURING the season it mattered, so the table stayed honest. Eighty charges over nine seasons, plus thirty five for refusing to cooperate with the investigation into it, and somehow that one has to wait. Carragher's right. Do it this season. Whatever it is, apply it now, to this table, the way it was applied to Everton and Forest. Because every week this drags on, the Premier League is asking us to treat a standings table as real while quietly knowing it might not be. Due process matters and the appeal has to be heard, I'm not arguing with that. But there's a difference between due process and letting a club sit top of a competition for an entire season while the punishment for breaking that competition's rules sits in a drawer. The league's credibility isn't damaged by what City did ten years ago. It's damaged by what the league is choosing to do about it now. Nine seasons. Then three years of charges. Then a verdict. And still, somehow, nothing. Who's season is this, exactly? 🖤🖤 #PremierLeague #MCFC

What’s doing my head in the most is that City are just carrying on as though nothings happened & their fans are loving it. I know it’s not a criminal court verdict but using that analogy if someone is found guilty they don’t typically get to walk around as normal before an appeal

Ref was a disgrace as expected. Thought we were good till the red card but can’t cope with injuries & that’s on Hughes not Andoni. Buying a luxury player when we needed to strengthen other areas was a mistake. That luxury player has done fuck all making a bad situation worse.

I just watched a superb series called Tip Toe that was on ch 4 a few months ago starring David Morrissey and Alan Cumming as feuding neigbours. It was so good I stayed up and watched all 5 episodes in one go. Best show I’ve seen since Its a Sin, also written by Russell T Davies.

This makes me nervous to hear the PM talking positively about them. If City don’t get relegated I’m done with football and I’m not watching it anymore, only old matches on YouTube.
Poor - and biased - response from Andy Burnham on Manchester City being found guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules by an Independent Commission. He says “I can’t intervene *more* in the process,” which requires an explanation in itself. Then offers commentary on previous proceedings he felt was unfair, AND states he wouldn’t want to lose the club’s owners who have “been such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester. Obviously, the building of Manchester City into the global force that it is.” How was that force built? And on the investment into the city itself, per a 2022 Guardian report: “Nine sites were sold to Sheikh Mansour at a fraction of their value, and well below what other plots nearby fetched. They were on leases lasting 999 years, well beyond the norm. And the fund shifted what had been public assets to companies registered in Jersey. “That walk along the water from New Islington into Ancoats now passes blocks of privatised land owned in an offshore tax haven, which yields millions upon millions for a key member of the wealthy elite running a surveillance state halfway across the globe. One of the greatest cities in the world has sold itself to a senior figure in a brutal autocracy – and not even for a good price.”

If City have irrefutable evidence of their innocence why didn’t they cooperate with the investigation, provide the correct financial records and why did their witnesses repeatedly lie? The appeal should hopefully be fast and their punishment should be even harsher as a result.

City’s directors or whomever was involved in all this could possibly face criminal charges for fraud never mind sporting sanctions. Sham contracts to artificially inflate revenues by an extra 900 million is an unbelievable statement. I suspected it was bad but this is outrageous.
