D'après Politico, le vote des midterms qui doit se tenir demain et dont Donald Trump part perdant pourrait mettre en danger l'avenir de l'alliance Atlantique.
Les alliés européens de l'OTAN redoutent qu'une défaite des Républicains aux élections de mi-mandat pousse Donald Trump à intensifier ses attaques contre l'Alliance atlantique. Privé d'une partie de sa marge de manœuvre sur le plan intérieur, le président américain pourrait chercher à imposer son héritage politique sur la scène internationale, et pas seulement qu'en Iran.
Selon plusieurs diplomates interrogés par Politico, Trump pourrait notamment retirer plusieurs milliers de soldats américains supplémentaires d'Europe, réduire les financements de l'OTAN et limiter les livraisons d'armes à l'Ukraine. Une révision du dispositif militaire américain en Europe est justement attendue d'ici décembre.
Plus inquiétant encore, Washington pourrait conditionner le maintien de ses forces en Europe à l'acceptation d'un accord de paix en Ukraine favorable à Moscou. Certains responsables craignent que Trump négocie directement avec Vladimir Poutine un arrangement plus large concernant l'architecture de sécurité européenne, au détriment de nos intérêts en tant qu'Européens et alliés.
Nous n'avons peut-être pas encore vécu les pires moments du second mandat de Trump.
🇷🇺Halloween en Russie, l'horreur vient du gouvernement.
Beaucoup disent que la France est un État autoritaire, ces images du club Bizzare à Moscou en plein raid policier nous rappellent ce qu'est une vraie dictature.
Le raid a été lancé pour mettre fin à une prétendue « propagande LGBT » d'après Mediazona. Cela nous donne une idée de l'ambiance dans le pays quand des boîtes de nuit se font fermer en pleine soirée de Halloween pour de tels motifs.
La vraie dictature ne veut pas que vous soyez heureux, elle veut que vous soyez obéissant. Au moindre doute, c'est la prison pour les chanceux et la première ligne dans le Donbass pour les moins chanceux. Aucune contradiction permise, personne pour gueuler sur les policiers ou pour oser se défendre.
Aucun de ces jeunes n'ira manifester pour leurs droits cette semaine, et personne dans le pays en voyant ces images ne montrera une quelconque solidarité, ni personne ne viendra commenter ou critiquer l'action de la police par peur de représailles.
La Russie sombre dans l'oppression systématique de sa jeunesse. Quel avenir reste-t-il au pays ?

The US President believes that the war with Iran is at least partly responsible for his political difficulties.
Trump has already asked his allies for their assessments of Pete Hegseth and Dan Caine. Both were key advisers to the president on the war with Iran and initially expressed optimism about its prospects.
Some people close to Trump suggest that the Secretary of War presented the war's progress in overly optimistic terms to please the president.
According to current and former defense officials, the president has several options: order strikes lasting anywhere from a few hours to several weeks, maintain the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz while continuing to threaten renewed hostilities, or refrain from further escalation.

🇺🇸 Pentagon officials are secretly collecting evidence that could bring down Pete Hegseth.
Several Defense Department officials have reportedly spent nearly two years collecting emails, memos and meeting notes about the defense secretary.
And they're taking no chances with the evidence.
Copies are reportedly hidden in a gun safe in Virginia, a bank vault in Washington, and a third location on the West Coast.
The officials allege Hegseth and his inner circle ignored legal advice, kept information from Congress and threatened the careers of people who challenged them.
Some have even met lawmakers at sandwich shops and dog parks, away from Capitol Hill.
Now they're waiting to see if Democrats win the House next week, potentially opening the door to an impeachment investigation in 2027.
In the words of one officer: "We're ready with the receipts."
For now, the evidence remains hidden, and whether it ever becomes an impeachment case could come down to who controls Congress.

France is showing the world what real accountability looks like. Paris prosecutors have launched a major criminal investigation into Elon Musk’s X, raided its Paris offices and summoned Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino for questioning.
The allegations are staggering, political manipulation through algorithms, child sexual abuse material, sexually explicit deepfakes generated by Grok without consent, Holocaust denial, unlawful data extraction and election interference.
While Musk parades around pretending to be a defender of free speech, his platform faces allegations involving the exploitation of children, the sexual abuse of women through AI-generated imagery, the manipulation of political discourse and threats to democratic elections.
Bravo, France! This is what standing up to billionaire arrogance looks like. Democracy is not a billionaire's personal playground, social media platforms are not above the law, and Elon Musk does not get to buy himself immunity from accountability. France is making it clear that the rule of law still matters, and the rest of the democratic world should be paying attention.
