This clip is the biggest thing we have to wrestle with after a historic level of defeat. A Watergate midterm 1974 in its depth, but 1994 in its message from the voters. Just as Bubba and Democrats were punished for not being the “new Democrats” they had promised in 1992 and immediately raised taxes, grew government, and attempted to input socialism via Hillarycare — we were punished for not giving the people the populism that we promised. Instead we fought harder for over ballrooms and the Kennedy Center than we did the Epstein list, we chose the stock market and data centers over Doge and debt reduction, and (the literal straw that broke the camel’s back) we made affordability worse with the very stupid Middle East foreign war we promised for a decade there would be no more of. Of course, this was all true going into this election as reflected by the polls (which were sadly right). However, I had hoped the level of unprecedented radicalization of the Democrats and their party’s unpopularity would counter the justifiable anger of the American people at least somewhat. Sadly, it did not. And when a state like mine, Iowa, is voting to make it virtually impossible to raise taxes by a wider margin then it voted for a tax raiser like Rob Sand for governor and to make a literal Satanic priestess my congresswoman (and after overwhelmingly supporting Trump three times), then the message is clear as painful as it is. The earth moved, yes, but not in continental realignment. This was generational frustration that a president and party who had promised to listen to them no longer was doing so. People didn’t want to move Left (although that will now be the reality on the ground with the new governors in former red states Iowa, Ohio, and Texas). They just wanted us to stop doing whatever this current mess is. We are completely off the rails as a party and lost credibility as a result, and that includes our leader. People want Avengers End Game comic book movies, not The Eternals or The Marvels versions. And you can’t tell them to want what they don’t — especially when you originally promised them otherwise. Let’s see if we’re better at getting that message than woke Hollywood has been. Is populism a brand or a real movement? We found out, in the most politically costly and painful way possible, which version the American people prefer.

JD was the most popular Republican in Iowa a week ago. But based on conversations I’ve had last two days, lots of things getting re-evaluated here (and everywhere) right now. Iowa is definitely more open than it was on Monday. We are going to have a real caucus process.
The scale of the Republican defeat is so great that it makes the race for the GOP presidential nomination wide open. If the administration had won a big victory, Vice President J D Vance would have had an enormous argument to be the inevitable nominee. Now, with this go-slow strategy blowing up in Iran and his defense of Vivek Ramaswamy's horrible, inhumane ad featuring his opponent's mother attacking her own daughter, a good bit of the luster has come off the bloom. The number of people who want to draft Secretary of State Marco Rubio is staggering. In addition, Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, Ron DeSantis, Pete Hegseth, Glenn Youngkin, and a surprising number of people may decide this is their chance to take advantage of the chaos of the shocking defeat and seek to be the champion who can rescue the party and the country.

The irony of having Charlie as your avatar yet pronouncing yourself vehemently opposed to JD Vance, when it was Charlie's mission to make Vance president one day.

This is an important point. Much of the red state and blue state phenomenon we take for granted these days dates back to only the last decade when the balkanization became quite severe. Virginia and Colorado went from swing states Dubya won twice to blue states while Florida, Ohio and Iowa went from swing states to red states after Obama won them twice. We have a precedent now that a political party can so fail its own base it disrupts the electoral paradigm considerably.
And the other states returned to the pre-1994 baseline.

Amen, glad I got to sit next to @realKrisCruz last night for the Jimmy Stewart premiere.
Election results do not get the final word. Jesus does. "The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all." Psalm 103:19 (NIV) Grieve if you need to. Then lift your head. The throne is not empty. Lord, lift the heads of Your people today. Remind us whose kingdom we belong to. Amen.

If you’ve walked the streets of Dubai-Mumbai….errr…..Dallas-Fort Worth the last couple of years, you’d sadly see it plain as day.
Hmmm… Very Interesting… Texas Governor’s Race Results 2018 - 🟥 Greg Abbot: 4.6 Million Votes - 🟦 Lupe Valdez: 3.5 Million Votes 2022 - 🟥 Greg Abbot: 4.4 Million Votes - 🟦 Beto: 3.5 Million Votes 2026 - 🟥 Greg Abbot: 4.5 Million Votes - 🟦 Gina HinoJosa: 5.2 Million Votes Ummmm I am having a hard time understanding where all these votes came from for Gina

Of all the things to come out swinging and ripping the feckless GOP senate for, this should probably be 329th on the list.
Trump rips the Senate for not approving the Sunshine Protection Act or the I Don’t Want to Change My Clocks Anymore Act: “It’s so dark outside, so early.”

Correct. Florida returned to pre-DeSantis baseline despite massive GOP voter advantage instate. From 1992-2016, Florida presidential elections decided by avg of just 2.5 points. Plenty of Republicans voted Dem in that state, too, on Tue just like everywhere else unfortunately.
On Florida: yes, Republicans held it, and we should be happy about that. But Donalds won by just 1.3 points, basically Trump's 2016 margin (+1.2). I wouldn't treat Florida as safe Republican.

This is actually about a 10-point improvement over 2024. Also, Jews make up an insignificant percentage of the overall electorate (2.4% of US population). But there’s no denying American Jews do not lean politically the same way Israeli Jews do. Especially right now.
🚨2026 EXIT POLL: Jewish voters nationally 🟦 Democrats: 68% 🟥 Republicans: 31% (NBC News House exit poll)

And yet you continue to remain silent about what a woman is.
And yet Republican Senators and Members of Congress continue to remain silent about the batshit crazy behavior of trump, even after yesterday’s generational Republican wipeout.

Long overdue. All foreign aid should be ended. But the dirty little secret here is much of the Right in Israel has wanted it to end for many years as well. But our defense contractors don’t want to compete with Israel on the foreign weapons market. And we wanted to be able to control Israeli foreign policy.
Trump announces the US is ending annual aid to Israel: “We were giving them $4B but it gets cut off at the end of the year. They don’t need it. It’s a bad talking point. We’ve been doing it for years. Israel is a thriving country. They don’t need it.”

A megachurch pastor getting elected US Senator from Kansas, but being a complete flaming heretic Democrat, is pretty much the fulfillment of the triune Warren-Hybels-Moore protestant papacy. The post-Religious Right era of evangelicalism's failure is now complete.

Let me help, and I’ll do those for a lot less than what you’re paying others to tell you. Find out what this guy did and said to win a district by double digits Talarico also won by double digits, and then do and say the same.
🚨 IT'S OFFICIAL: Rep. BRANDON GILL (R-TX) reelected to Congress THANK GOD! We CAN'T lose this absolute rising star 🇺🇸🇺🇸
