1:1 time with @sophiebakalar is a gift, especially for aspiring investors. Get in her inbox:
If you’re new to venture or looking to break into VC, shoot me an email: [email protected] I blocked off a lot of next week to chat 1:1. I’d love to tell you about our program, but also game to be a brainstorming partner in general. I was lucky to get some great advice early in my career - happy to pay it forward and share what I’ve learned after 10+ years as a VC.

Love the “ask me about this page” AI features in browsers. This morning I felt like a liberal arts kid again.

You can learn a lot about a company from its onboarding. With @Lotus, you also see the many ways today’s patient experience falls short.

I've had a company crush on @OpenEvidence for years. Only today did I realize I can use it as a patient-consumer, not just for healthcare professionals. I can ask medical-ish questions, in plain language, answered with the citations. I can't believe I waited this long.

tbh most of these AI apps aren’t that useful without meeting data from @meetgranola and others. They built an entirely new dataset for turning intent into action in a way that’s actually personal.

Muse, Instinct, and the agent du jour seem to provide the most value to users on top of low-quality website UI/UX. These sites never got the modern design memo - too many clicks, unintuitive layouts, and unnecessary steps to transact. They feel stuck on the surface.

My best guess is an acquisition conversation behind the scenes, with the world’s best hardware company, Apple, in play. @ouraring is such a goodie that I’m struggling to see the type of uncertainty that applies here.

@drewfallon12 put some on @Supertake from @mignano. Fave feature is “play money” on top of more nuanced market calls.

Molly is one of my favorite people in venture. She’s all of the best qualities you’d want on your cap table and in your community. And truly so fun to be around. More @themollette is a very good thing.
The @DormRoomFund family did it again! Proud to announce a fresh $50M Fund 2 and a new brand to keep backing the best student and recent grad/drop-out founders. My favorite part? 30% of our investors in Fund 2 are DRF alums and their firms. Read more: nytimes.com/2026/09/29/techn…

Speaking of derm ~ Clinicians make significantly more money on cosmetic appointments (Botox/fillers, laser treatments) than clinical ones (acne, flareups, skin cancer checks). Revenue per visit: medical ~$85–$240 vs. cosmetic $480–$1,400 🤑 This obviously incentivizes prioritizing cosmetic patients → longer waits for appointments, shorter visits, and limited access to actual medical care. Enter: telehealth + prescribers for the regular and time-sensitive stuff, à la @Spring_Ventures

Healthcare for everyday issues is exhausting. My longtime derm cancelled on me for the THIRD time and the waits for an actual clinical (not cosmetic) appointment are loco. Just hopped off a consult with @HoneydewCare and it was everything I hoped for: fast, clear, and actually helpful. Huge shoutout to @rex_woodbury for introducing me via his investment in 'em.

The future is securities fraud.
The extent of lying / exaggerating among 16-24 year olds pitching VCs for their first round or two is at an all time high right now. It’s ok to be ambitious and optimistic. Not ok to lie about VC termsheets that one didn’t receive or to talk about a verbal LOI from a customer as a signed scaler contract. Yes, we VCs are often lazy, yet some of us still do a few minutes of due diligence before we make an offer to invest.

The GLP-1 economy is the most underpriced behavior change in healthcare. In a few years it's moved people from passive patients to active buyers and participants of their own care. Truly can't wait to see all the incredible and impactful companies to come in this category.

Protect this man at all costs.
A few years ago the market was paying $1m for jpeg apes. Don’t trust the market consensus. Better yet, ignore it
