Successfully defended my PhD on generative AI and small newsrooms. My research involved building a chatbot prototype and interviewing newsroom staff in the US/Canada. See the tool here: github.com/stuartduncan416/A… #phddone
Check out our research in Communication and the Public, where we introduce a method to measure the deliberative quality of social media discussions, using Twitter and Reddit conversations from the 2022 Canadian convoy protests as a case study. doi.org/10.1177/205704732412…
The Python code behind this work is also available on GitHub: github.com/stuartduncan416/o…
Many thanks to my co-authors, @LaurenJDwyer1, Hanako Smith, Davis Vellesi, @fraukezeller and Charles Davis @C5Davis

People often think I’m anti-car.
I’m not against the car. I literally own a car. One that I bought new just a few years ago that I really enjoy driving.
What I’m against is the convenience of the car being at the centre of how we’ve designed our society.

So folks, some news: after more than 30 years today is my last at the CBC. Mountains of gratitude to colleagues, mentors, audiences (both TV and radio) and especially the many, many over the years who trusted me to tell their stories. It was a privilege and an honour. ❤️
