recursive displacement: rgba noise at 0.2 into a displace, level at 0.99, back into itself, offset = absTime.frame/768. average the rgb into one slope and the fine waves go muddy; split the channels, slope and normalize each, average, divide by 3 - detail back, spikes gone.

i built a loop that writes a webgl artwork, runs trials, grades itself, then adds one feature and removes one each pass. 3 hours and $20 later it ran. visually it was disappointing. the point isnt a faster version of my old work, it is a machine with taste.

every superenthusiast promises their tool will change everything. then you install it and it just keeps you from doing the work you know you have to do. this week: $200 of compute, a day gone, nothing moved. the hunt for the right tool is the work i was avoiding.
