Which is why I hate how people are trying to remove anger from a certain deceased Black writer’s work.

Last night I gave a lecture on La Jetee to a prison classroom and basically everyone in the class loved the movie. People who try to tell you that difficult or experimental art is only for educated nerds are wrong, that’s just shit that giant corporations want you to believe.

Everyone always says athletes are rich and make too much money which, they are, but they are still an exploited labor class and this Jalen situation exemplifies that. The money professional athletes make compared to what they generate for their owners is incomparable.

It's not a gap between filmmakers and audience. It's a gap between filmmakers and careerists.
Likes of DuVernay, Affleck and Boyle proudly using AI suggests ever-gaping disconnect between filmmakers and audiences that goes beyond tech itself and points to fundamental ignorance. Vast majority of us don't want this shit. Stop doing it. And certainly stop boasting about it.

To be honest, most people in this settler colony are likely desensitized to live-streamed government murder given the way that police executions of Black and other vulnerable people are circulated and consumed ad nauseam.

"Never mind if a film ends pessimistically but exposes certain mechanisms clearly enough to show people how they work and the ultimate effect is not pessimistic. My goal is to reveal such mechanisms in a way that makes people realize the necessity of changing their own reality." - Fassbinder

It's copoganda because it deems the police, no matter what, as necessary for society to function, no matter their "failings".

Okay but let’s also care about abuse not in the news, happening all around us, in which we can actually intervene. Performative outrage is useless.
