Weapon Level Skips in MW4 They seem to be using a modified MWII leveling system where unlocking an attachment unlocks it universally for all guns that can equip it. This is instead of requiring you to level a gun you don't like for the attachments you want on the gun you want to use, you simply level and when you switch guns you will be awarded level skips as you hit those levels on the gun. Significantly lowering needed levels for each weapon.

MW4 Beta Impressions Good: Graphics look great. Menus are clean. Movement seems balanced early so far. Gunplay feels pretty good overall. Muzzle smoke & visual recoil are significantly improved from MWII. Directional voice chat (minor, subtle improvement) Weapon leveling: Potentially the best weapon-leveling system we've had. The Kastov has 71 levels and took me about 5 hours, but shared attachments only need to be unlocked once (universal). That cross-progression means future/new weapons could potentially require something like 10-20 levels because you already have many of their universal attachments unlocked. Middle/Unsure: Streak system: Hybrid kill and point system seems good and rewards all playstyles, but need more time to know for sure Shotguns may be a tad too strong at ranges they shouldn't be IMO. Movement is More reserved which I think will split people based on preferences, so may feel smooth or clunky depending. Transit 213: Basically Shipment 2.0 for better or worse. Bad: Firing Range: Huge step back in functionality and lighting. Slide-to-fire: Slightly too slow for my liking. Best Play: Weird slowdowns and speed-ups at the end of matches, which can be confusing, especially with hacker concerns. Footsteps: Generally a little too loud, making Ninja feel like a crutch and creating a noticeable camper advantage, especially in one-life modes. Connections: Seem inconsistent, with instances of super bullets and "shoot first, die first" feeling. Spawns: Generally need a lot of work, and that's outside of Transit 213. Visual clutter: A lot of smoke from standard explosions. Create-a-Class / attachment bloat: Far too many attachment penalties and redundant attachments, compounded by the limited/simplified weapon stats available in the beta. This is the downside to what otherwise seems like a very good weapon-leveling system.
