Hope is a gonzo wild ride. A smashing creature feature that feels like two movies in one. The first "half" is a single, breathless can't-look-away chase sequence that's essentially its own movie. From there it goes into more conventional world expansion and franchise building.

Insanely kinetic action, scary monsters, laugh out loud funny characters, and a cool new world to swallowed up by. A gloriously fun time at the movies. It's out in theatres now. Unfortunately it's the English dub which is a tad irritating but by no means a dealbreaker.

I'm so fed up of filmmakers staging horrendous violence (almost always towards women) as an excuse to show oppression and establish a heinous villain. It doesn't have the intended effect when you clearly Relish staging those scenes. You can feel them salivating at the ugliness

The Paradise opens with a pregnant women being hooked up to a car battery and electrocuted till she's literally forced to give birth...all in the name of showing oppression and introducing a violent villain. And this is the movie I was excited for?

Reckless, messy, moral, turgid, forcefully stylish, and deeply rewarding, Dorothy has only expanded in my mind in the weeks since I’ve watched it. Reviewed it, with spoilers. It is now streaming on Netflix. hollywoodreporterindia.com/a…

Embargo for international press reviews for #Ramayana will get lifted on October 30. So, whoever is talking about it before 30th is breaching the embargo. 😕

Prime Video’s Chaar Yaar is a middling, unimaginative crime thriller that refuses to go past second gear.

Udta Teer is too afraid to commit to the bit. an Add film but certainly not a surprising one. It (initially) leans into its spoofy, slapstick comedy and isn't afraid to have fun with (not necessarily make fun of) patriotism and animosity.

To treat the blood boiling with a charming lightness (Rahul Bose and Suhail Nayyar threaten to steal the show).

Only to (unsurprisingly) walk it back, get solemn and dull whilst burying us in so many twists within twists, hitting you from all sides, it hopes to confuse you into submission and gaslight you into believing you had a good time.

"This is when, as a viewer, you realise that the film becomes the very entity it appeared to parody. All the Muslim cartoon-baddies in the first half start to reflect the very demonisation you thought the film was spoofing" hollywoodreporterindia.com/r…

I actually think Netflix is suffering right now for the opposite reason. From the newsletter yesterday:
People are losing the attention span to even watch 30 minute TV shows as short form video eats the world.
