We need an Apollo Project to land our houseless residents in housing, as we landed a man on the moon in 10 yrs in the 60's. Just 1% of our defense budget per yr would do it in CA in 12 yrs. @HousingNowCA bloomberg.com/news/articles/….

⭕️ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc is on track for 53 of the Knesset's 120 seats, with 85.6% of votes counted, according to Haaretz. That's eight short of a majority. Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot's bloc is projected to win 48 seats. With 19 seats estimated won by Arab parties, the opposition would hold 67. Without the Palestinian (“Arab”) parties, neither side can reach the 61 needed to govern. Leading opposition figures, including former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman of Yisrael Beiteinu and former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, have said they won't join a government that depends on Palestinian-party support. Two small right-wing parties, the Reservists (2.6%) and Amcha Yisrael (1.6%) are currently below the 3.25% threshold needed to enter the Knesset. If they end up below the threshold, their votes are wasted. They would have likely favored the opposition bloc.
Spoke with @SalmaCNN this morning on Israel’s exit polls, why we still have to wait for final results and why excluding the Palestinian populations high turnout and right to impact their political future is the big story of this election

Yesterday, after weeks of escalating crackdowns, Egypt’s govt shut down Mada Masr, one of the country’s leading independent outlets, & arrested its editor-in-chief, Lina Attalah. They must reverse this decision & release Lina immediately. Journalism is not a crime.
Less than a month after arresting the entire Matsadaash newsroom, the Egyptian govt has now filed baseless charges against the editor-in-chief of Mada Masr, continuing their largest crackdown in years.   This assault on the free press must end NOW. Journalism is not a crime.

I've been invited to America a few times for conventions in the last year or two and I've refused because I'm afraid this kind of thing would happen to me. This is verifiably a real thing that happens to people, I don't see myself travelling there until ICE is abolished.
Genuinely disturbing news - my friend Clara, who you might know as the Super Creek at Trackside, was abducted by ICE at the Rochester Airport on her way home from Uma week. Please read and share her story: facebook.com/share/18Rmm5SHK…

At the UN General Assembly today, 26 delegations took the floor one after another against the US embargo on Cuba. "All we know about Cuba is friendship and solidarity. We know nothing about terrorism." The US ambassador told the chamber there is no blockade. His speech drew three points of order from Cuba's foreign minister and briefly suspended the meeting. The debate resumes tomorrow with the remaining delegations -- then the Assembly votes to denounce the US blockade on Cuba, a call it has now repeated for 34 years.

A message to those who still believe that it all started on October 7. No, it didn't. A 'managed genocide', to keep 1.5 million Palestinians "on the edge of life" was in force years before. Read the latest report by Eyal Weizman: "A military document called ‘Red Lines’ set the minimum number of calories required to sustain Gaza’s population at a level just above the UN definition of hunger (2100 calories a day for men, 1700 for women and a varying amount for children depending on gender and age). The total number of calories was translated into the tonnage required to feed Gaza’s then population of 1.5 million and thus the number of aid trucks allowed into the territory. The same went for megawatts of electricity and litres of fuel and water. What was seen as good behaviour was rewarded by an increase in the amounts coming in, any acts of resistance by the tightening of the siege, like a population-scale version of a Milgram experiment." lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v48/n20/…

Irony of ironies: the same day that the US is accusing Cuba of all sorts of falsehoods at the UN, Marco Rubio snuck the criminal Flavio Bolsonaro out of Brazil to Miami so he can evade justice from Lula, the duly elected leader of his home country. Who is the real “regime” here?

“The easiest thing for a political leader to do is to appeal to our bigotry and our hatred and xenophobia and prejudice, and point to people who are unlike us and say they’re the ones who are damaging our country," Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., August 5, 2016 on Larry King Now. There was a time when I completely agreed with my brother. Today, I am deeply ashamed of him. Arab and Muslim people alike have made extraordinary contributions to the world across literature, science, mathematics, medicine and countless other fields. To name a few, Omar M. Yaghi won the Wolf Prize in Chemistry in 2018 and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2025. Ahmed Zewail won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1999, and Naguib Mahfouz won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1988. A person’s race, religion, ethnicity or socioeconomic background does not determine their intellect, creativity or capacity to contribute to humanity. My thoughts are with all those hurt by my brother’s false, cruel and derogatory words. nytimes.com/2026/10/27/us/rf…

notice how they have to use tricky verbiage like “living being” and “living souls” to try to linguistically equate poultry with humans

ICE is reviewing itself. CoreCivic is "deeply saddened." ICE's first public move was to release his criminal history, as if a rap sheet were a cause of death. Who else does this when announcing jail deaths? The facility sits in the San Diego Sheriff's Office's jurisdiction. The Sheriff's own 2021 memo says so in writing. The Sheriff's Office has used its MOU with CoreCivic to justify staying out of Otay Mesa, where seven reported rapes went uninvestigated last year. I've read that MOU. It covers sexual abuse only. Not one word about deaths. And it doesn't say what the Sheriff's Office claimed. It requires CoreCivic to refer potentially criminal allegations to the Sheriff, and it commits the Sheriff to investigate them. Guess who approved it in July 2021? Then-Undersheriff Kelly Martinez. This year, Sheriff Martinez told the Board that investigating Otay Mesa is "a difficult ask." This death came after the state AG, County Public Health, and local reporters all documented the same thing: a medical system failing the people inside. Sheriff Martinez, answer one question: Did your deputies or your Homicide Unit respond on October 24, and is there a case number? A death in custody inside your jurisdiction is your responsibility, whoever owns the building.

This would be like telling WV that a coal miner was too dumb to be a senator.
FINAL STRETCH: A new Susan Collins campaign ad includes this line on Troy Jackson: “I also know Troy Jackson. But we're not talking about buying a cord of wood here. We're sending someone to the US Senate, and Troy doesn't have the tools he needs to be effective.”

What backslash Jessica? 🧐😇So we are banning all meats? If Duck goes all goes next? …I’ve been through this in California…..just lets concentrate on things that matter…..cars with children are being shot by ICE, immigrants working in farms and restaurants being deported many with green cards and even citizens…so many other issues! Yes let’s bring the ducks now….one more issue for restaurants to handle!😅🕊️

I’m devastated – this is the first known death at Otay Mesa under Trump 2.0. Their family still hasn’t been notified yet, and they deserve answers and accountability. ICE and CoreCivic must fully cooperate with the investigation and release their findings publicly. cbs8.com/article/news/politi…

Canadians call for independent foreign policy of peace with Cuba and to oppose the blockade at the United Nations 🇨🇺 The Canadian Network on Cuba— a coalition of 26 solidarity organizations—held a press conference in Ottawa today to demand that the Government of Canada take immediate and concrete action to counter the devastating impact of the United States’ economic war against Cuba in the name of Canadian sovereignty. The press conference comes after a parliamentary petition was presented by Member of Parliament Leah Gazan (NDP). This is the third petition on this topic to come to the floor in 2026, collecting thousands of signatures, and arrives just before Canadian delegates will vote on the position of the United States blockade at the UN General Assembly on Oct. 28. The petition and coalition call on Ottawa to undertake the following measures without delay: 1. Deepen and defend economic and cultural exchanges between Canada and Cuba in the face of United States aggression; 2. Enforce the Foreign Extraterritorial Measures Act, to protect Canadian corporations who do business in Cuba against United States sanctions; 3. Lift the Government of Canada’s advisory against non-essential travel to Cuba and expand opportunities for tourism and trade; and 4. Reaffirm Canada’s historic opposition to the United States embargo against Cuba at the United Nations and support the annual resolution on the Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo. The CNC states that the deliberate use of economic coercion to deprive a population of essential resources raises grave humanitarian and international legal concerns. It calls for an immediate end to measures that threaten the well-being of the Cuban people. Canada must also take concrete measures to protect Canadian businesses and institutions from the extraterritorial application of U.S. sanctions. We heard first from Juilo Fonseca, Co-Chair of the Canadian Network On Cuba and member of the Juan Gualberto Gomez Association of Cuban Residents in Toronto.
