She popped 2 Adderall, texted Justin Timberlake “lol #micropenis”, moved the mic down to her crotch and hit record

I need Megan Thee Stallion to really understand the impact Thin Ice has on me 😭😭😭
The way she yelled “WHAT” tickles the best part of my brain.
Laface records was the worst company
Toni Braxton’s records brought in $170 million, and her royalty check from her first contract was $1,972.
That’s not a typo. In the video below, ABC asks her straight: “$170 million in sales, and you got $1,972?”
“I did. That’s right, that’s true.”
Her debut album went to No. 1, sold over 8 million copies and won her a Grammy for Best New Artist.
Here’s how the math works. The label fronts the artist an advance. Then recording, videos and promotion all get paid back out of her royalties before she sees a cent. Then they offer an advance on the next album, and the cycle starts over.
In her words: “You kind of stay in debt.”
In 1998, two years after “Un-Break My Heart,” one of the most famous voices in the world filed for bankruptcy.
She doesn’t pretend it was all the label. She admits she “lost it a little bit” on plates, Fabergé and thousand-thread-count sheets.
In 2010 she filed again.
$170 million went through the system. $1,972 came out the other end with her name on it.
Who’s more to blame: the label that wrote the contract, or the star who signed it?
