piastri fans deadass tryna use “he whines on radio” excuse… your driver called for a team swap after HE ruined HIS OWN race after a SC restart

"lando asked for the swap" no, in fact he didn't, not once.
these are their full radios until the moment it happened. andrea has now confirmed it was discussed pre race, so 'the other driver is on a different strategy' was very likely the cryptic code mclaren used for it and there was no real split strategy.
lando was asked about his pace, he answered, and mclaren made the call based on the data, with the final +20 second gap only reinforcing that he did in fact have the pace.

🇲🇽 One year ago today, Lando Norris took the lead of the drivers’ championship in Mexico & didn’t let go until he won his maiden title 🏆
He won the race by 30.3 seconds, the largest margin of victory in Mexico since 1968.
It was a statement.

this insane start from lando last year holding off three cars at one of the hardest tracks to hold the lead from pole 😮💨
isnt it hilarious how technically piastri is the one getting repercussions after singapore bc he is slow as shit
the guys lando got shit for “not defending enough” against vs the guy piastri got praised for holding behind
tldr: right now our car sucks with one driver not being able to extract what the other can from the car so we wont be stupid & waste time and points by “letting them race” when its not for wins & podiums bc we get more pts by issuing team orders
andrea stella on swapping his drivers during the united states grand prix:
“We had seen during the weekend that Lando was a little bit faster than Oscar. This is a track in which Lando excels and is one of the tracks in which Oscar instead struggles a little bit more.”
“So this year I think in particular for Oscar is tricky because Oscar’s superpower is to build, once he creates references he can really effectively build lap after lap.”
“But here, every lap is different. So these are the conditions that challenge Oscar. And actually are the conditions where Lando uses his own superpower which is being very adaptive to the conditions especially as the car slides.”
“So given this context we discussed before the race that if Lando was behind Oscar and Oscar could not keep up with the cars ahead then we could have given Lando a chance or an opportunity to see if we could attack the cars ahead, and that’s what we did.”
“It’s a way of demonstrating that as a team and together with the drivers we care about the interest of the team which was always the conversation that we have had. And especially after Singapore, we reinforced how much it’s important that we all together help McLaren go back to the position that we want to have, which is Oscar and Lando first row in qualifying, [and] fighting for the win. And then we manage the internal competition.”
“But up to then, all together we need to sustain the trajectory of McLaren back to the front.”
this is the guys pace 81s bragged about piastri holding off btw
RACE PACE #USGP #F1
No driver set quicker lap times than LEC! Ferrari 1-2 in this regard 🔥 (HAM was just 0.103 s/lap slower, VER 0.140 s/lap behind)
However, ANT was within 3 tenths of LEC despite using one fewer set of tyres: he lost ~16s on pace but saved ~20s by not pitting. Terrific pace and management 👌
RUS had NO PACE: he was slower than HAD and both McL cars, losing over EIGHT TENTHS per lap to his teammate on an equal strategy! 🤔
Rate the race 1 to 10! 7.5/10 for me

On oscar’s onboard the only thing said to him was the line about different strategies (a code perhaps to swap). Nothing else was said before or after (barring a comment about his brakes after going off at t12) and there was no pushback from him on the move
now andrea is confirming the swap was discussed pre race. makes sense why they ended up on basically the same strategy after both being told they’re on different ones if it actually never had to do with strategy, mclaren have made their coding nonsense clear in the past
I’m not gonna police anyone in how they reacted to this and in the moment it’s difficult to see things from a logical point of view when emotions are rampant, but so much discourse for a swap that was seemingly happening before the lights even went out
I’ve also seen way too many people say lando asked for that swap, he was asked about his pace, he said he had more but put the ball back in McLarens court
And after the reaction to the Singapore sprint, I can’t blame him for making it 100% McLarens liability

Here's a chart detailing where all those 30 championship defenses end up, too.
Norris sits in the top left quadrant (haha), with seasons such as 1996 Schumacher. In fact, Lando's season sits closest to Schumi's '05 year.
Again, no WNBAData or Leahlytics, but it's decent work.

You know what?
I can't come up with anything clever, so I'm just gonna make a thread on why you (and many others like you) are so unbelievably wrong.
Replying to @Victor389519246
your driver is about to record the worst wdc defence in almost 30 years, since Damon hill in 1997. that will go down in the history books, and all commentators will report on his shame. perhaps its best you focus on that
