Field Operations Supervisor, Juan Camacho Jr, saw this load heading to landfill and redirected it to organics, upholding our mission in a future without landfills!
While we do what we can, it's everyone's responsibility to keep recyclables (like food) out of the landfill ♻️

📖 Word of the day 📖
DIVERT - verb: to reallocate (something, especially resources) to a different purpose.
Your food scraps, yard waste, and recyclables can be diverted from the landfill (trash) because they are resources!
So let's all do our part to divert our resources!

Old & broken string lights?💡If they can't be fixed, don't place them in your recycle bin - instead, bring string lights to us for recycling! ♻
We accept these for FREE in our E-Waste bins, and we have three convenient locations for drop-off in Salinas Valley!
This is what yard waste contamination looks like when it arrives to our organics operation🥴 It requires 5 staff plucking out ~18,000lbs of trash per WEEK, becoming costly for everyone.
Be sure to recycle right and only put yard waste and food scraps ito the green cart♻️

Glass is glass...right?
Not quite, especially when it comes to recyclability.
Mirrors require a higher temperature to melt than bottles & jars during the recycle process, making them tough to recycle.
So, toss the glass jar (lid too!) to recycle ♻️ & mirror in the trash 🗑️
What could be spookier than haunted backroads of Salinas Valley? The consequences of illegal dumping! The environment, the community, and the illegal dumper could suffer from these actions.
DON'T DUMP! It's wrong, and you never know who's watching 👀 @SupervisorLopez @CHP_HQ
