SQU4D already removed that segment from the YouTube video, but it’s still frustrating that a prompt like that ever made it past production, editing, and final review in the first place. I absolutely do not support their decision to air that clip, and I completely disagree with how this whole situation has been handled from the start. Lily’s history with the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires is well-documented. The staff should have been way more mindful and protective of their own artist's past experiences. Even though Lily tried her best to laugh it off in the moment, and some fans are brushing it off as just a "dark joke," it is still so insensitive. A literal tragedy is not content. Lily has openly shared before, all the way back during her K-Pop Star days, that this event left her with lasting childhood trauma. Forcing her to confront that for the sake of variety entertainment is just unacceptable. I assume SQU4D probably already apologized to Lily personally since they work closely together, but a private apology doesn't mean they get a pass publicly. A lot of people are incredibly disappointed and hurt that this even managed to broadcast to the world. The fact that they chose to quietly delete the footage without any proper announcement or statement acknowledging their mistake feels like a blatant attempt to sweep a serious mistake under the rug instead of facing the community. With this total lack of transparency, I really hope SQU4D does the right thing and releases a public apology to Lily and everyone affected by this. The company desperately needs to implement stricter content guidelines and better filtering protocols so the members are never put in such an uncomfortable, triggering position for views again.
