I’m not convinced it’s worth it to do things effortlessly until you’re like, 50 to 55. until then, probably the compounding gains from struggling through novel experiences is still super worth it.
you can ignore most advice if you’re really talented, and most advice won’t work if you’re really untalented. therefore, being a generalist is the only way to take advantage of most advice.
there’s alpha in lying, but only once. and the cost is that from that point on, you have to fight to even capture the beta.
order of operations when I realize I’m in way too deep: stabilize my Present first. next, settle up with my Past. only then is it tenable to plan for my Future. trying to do them out of order will cause none of them to get done.
“yeah I could get out of a wet paper bag. a dry one though? idk, they didn’t cover that on the exam.”
I don’t understand people who are indecisive. it presumably comes from some desire to optimize? but surely after one attempt at being indecisive, an optimizer realizes that doing something would be better than doing nothing.
if I were given this option 10 years ago, I would've done it for free (all of my commitments would become wayyy more credible). but at this point in my life, there are secrets I have given my word to never divulge; I would not do it for any price.
these scams are only going to become increasingly common. for now, marginal costs mean that the primary targets are companies and corporate figures.
it will not be long before another order-of magnitude cost reduction puts your parents in their crosshairs.
🚨 Wow. WOW. I just witnessed the most involved and sophisticated phishing attempt I've ever seen and y'all need to know about this.
The TL;DR is that @beaconlayer reached out invite me onto their show, spent days going over the run-of-show in detail with clearly AI-assisted extensive knowledge of my work, booked the recording, and then tried to get me to install malware in order to join the call.
Some of you have probably already heard about the similar attempt made on @0xzak but this one was news to me. The difference is that this isn't just someone posing as a producer from a popular show, it's the actual show, which has episodes out and a sizeable audience on @X which makes them look legit. I suspect all of those other guests have malware installed already and I caution everyone to do a security sweep.
I've been cautioning people against deepfake scams for a decade so you'd think I'd have smelled something sooner — it takes real balls to go after cypherpunks specifically — but at least I caught it before they convinced another rube to commit a bash command and give up all of their passwords.
Here's the full story — I have the receipts, and now you do too:

first principles thinking is incredibly powerful, but if you use it frequently you are probably a moron who hasn’t taken the the time to develop good heuristics and/or intuition.

I was the #1 popcorn seller in my troop 3 years running by replying to every refusal with "that's okay, not everyone can afford it"
thrilled to see people reacting positively to the Vibecamp ticket launch earlier today, and it was fun seeing the community theorize on what the hidden secret could mean :)
I PROMISE THERE IS NOTHING EXPLICIT GOING ON HERE.
Vibecamp people, get your tickets and get on discord or vc5 chat. @gptbrooke and @taliasmiley have hidden a message about long hung girls on the back of your Vibecamp 6 tickets.
