For more than 70 years, successive Canadian governments have held the position that a two-state solution is the way forward for long-term peace that also addresses Israel’s legitimate security concerns. Illegal settlements in the West Bank significantly undermine these objectives. Today, alongside the United Kingdom, France and a number of other international partners, Canada is supporting international law to protect the prospect of a two-state solution. In the coming months, we will introduce restrictions on trade in goods with settlements in the West Bank that are illegal under international law. Canada will continue to support work towards an enduring peace agreement that provides security and safety for Israelis and Palestinians alike. Canada's commitment remains steadfast to denounce and combat the scourge of antisemitism at home and abroad. Read more:
