V for Vendetta was optimistic about the UK.
A man was arrested by police in Britain after he posted a picture online of himself posing with a gun in the US He was then held overnight in a cell and bailed… ā€œI was told to be careful what I say online and I need to understand how it makes people feel,ā€ WHAT?? The police seized his computers and phone and so he had been unable to even work. Then they dropped the charges. The process is the punishment šŸ’£

> Arbitrarily deciding what is spam leads to govcoin. Nonsense bullshit FUD. Spam is defined everywhere and since always as unwanted digital messages sent in bulk to unwilling receivers. This definition necessarily requires some level of subjectivity (not necessarily arbitrariness) by receivers. In Bitcoin L2, all present and future nodes are receivers of all on-chain transactions, forever, so the spam issue is pretty relevant. Luckily, there's a rate limit (block size cap and difficulty adjustment). > Fees alone determine relevance. You are illiterate about the way your node works. Every high-fee-rate but invalid transaction gets *rejected* by your node (together with the including block), as we speak. Every high-fee-rate, valid but non-standard transaction gets *rejected* by your node (unless included in a block), as we speak. This is also true for Core V30. On top of this, every high-fee-rate, valid and standard transaction, which for any reason violates the goals of Bitcoin as a tool (cf the inflation bug transactions of August 2010), will be soon invalidated by your node as soon as you will patch it to conform to the scope of the system. Fee-rate alone clearly DOES NOT determine relevance. > This is basic stuff. Indeed, and so many people getting it so tragically wrong is an educational failure.

I've just been reminded that the wave of retardedness that recently captured so many people in the "Core side" was already planted by Andreas many years ago. He was among my orange-pills back in 2013, but if I try to be rational and not emotionally attached to my past, I conclude he has been clearly a net negative for Bitcoin education. So many deep fallacies and inconsistencies. My heart wants me to believe it was either the Ethereum fraud or the Coronazi hysteria to "ruin him". My brain let me see they were just likely both revelling his very sloppy intellectual foundations.

And the lives of activists, journalists, and people living under repressive regimes… they don’t matter? Protecting power while exposing the vulnerable is hypocrisy. Safety shouldn’t be a privilege reserved for the powerful.

You can say what you want of Giacomo, but he’s one of the few individuals in this space always logically consistent and able to understand that life is full of paradoxes and you have to cruise with it.

Make Switzerland Sane Again!

Switzerland, once a symbol of digital privacy, is quietly dismantling its own reputation. Even more troubling, it seems that it’sbeing pushed through by ordinance rather than referendum, meaning citizens don’t get a vote at all. Hard to believe that’s accidental.

Users disagree with a change on Github: "stop brigading, this is not Twitter, get a ban!" Users disagree with that change on Twitter: "eh, we can't take Twitter sentiment into account for our decisions, we already discussed it on Github an all non-banned users and non-hidden comments agreed, so...". :D
This especially fails because it strongly conflicts with Bitcoin Core contributor interests. A signal that making noise on social media is a viable way to getting Bitcoin Core developers to make technically unsound changes would undermine the credibility of the project.

They can make up any "why" instantly at will. Walking a lot in a wood was illegal in 2021 "because you were killing granmas". Most people would not support killing granmas. Most people did support making walking alone in a wood illegal. Most people are retarded. Tech like Bitcoin serve us to escape them.

If you stole all his wealth and turned it into health insurance with perfect efficiency, it'd pay for ~1 month for every American. Capitalism is better than socialism because it tends to actually produce wealth, rather than merely consuming it in a manner that makes the economically illiterate feel like they're helping.

Yes, I think quantum FUD is bullshit so I have no issue with that. I'm OK with people scared by it to adopt an optional scheme within the tapscript. I'll keep using the keypath.
