When was the last time a T-Pillar was excavated at Gobekli Tepe? Was it 2017? The site is made up of approx 200 T-Pillars. Only 72 have been excavated. Around 128 remain buried. Yet, for reasons unknown, they’ve chosen to stop excavating the Pillars? Why don’t they want to find out what the original purpose of this site was?

The lesser-discussed ‘NW-mound’ of Gobekli Tepe (covered by the “spaceship” roof), hasn’t been excavated since Klaus Schmidt’s death in 2014. This specific area is also off-limits to tourists. When Dr. Lee Clare was asked why excavations haven’t continued, he stated that they haven’t gotten around to it, as they’ve been busy with the rest of the site. This is another example of just how much more is waiting to be excavated at this site.
