Why do the best passing teams play in triangles? Put 3 players in a line and the two on the ends have one pass each. Move one off the line and everyone has two, and a single defender can't block both. Cruyff built his Barcelona on that. Here are 7 triangle drills to train it 🧵 1/7 Pass and follow (4 players) Set-up: 3 cones, 15 m apart. Play it to the next cone and follow your pass. The receiver meets it on the outside, takes it round the cone with the first touch and plays it on with the second.

5v2 Transition Rondo 🔄 Two teams of five, two grids. 10 passes = fresh defenders in. Win it = play it into your grid, now you keep it 5v2. Possession → Press → Regain → Transition

Four-square rondo, 9v4 ⚽ 3v1 in each square. Three passes, transfer, round all four for a point. Defenders win it? Straight at the mini goals. 25x25m. Would you use it with your team?

Add 4 mini goals on the outside square for the 4 to score into on possession regain ( 3 pts for each goal ) and you’ll up the tempo / desire to keep possession / counter press 👍🏼⚽️
Transitional rondo ⚽ 4v2 in a 10x10: 8 passes or a split = point Defenders win it → out into the 25x25, 6v4, 5 passes = point Lose it? Press NOW Supporting angles, scanning, pressing reactions. All in one drill.

The key to this fantastic position play practice is the size of the area imo 👍🏼 Don’t be afraid to change it during the session to get it just right
Pep's favourite rondo, and it's harder than it looks 😅 4v4+3: three neutrals always play for the team on the ball, so it's 7v4. Get it from one end to the other. Lose it and you defend instantly. Would your team keep it?

I think the 4v4+3 is most important exercise that I use. Possession, spacing, body shape, transitions, technical ability, communication, defending, on and on. Bonus: it’s the number one way to train midfielders to become protagonists as opposed to just run around really fast.
5 rondos every coach should run 👇 1. 3v1: support angles 2. 5v2: split the pair 3. 4v2+1: find the pivot 4. Guardiola's 4v4+3 5. Counter-press: win it back in 5s Which one do you use most?
