If you're seeking an alternative to this place, BlueSky is worth a try; has the feel of the early Twitter days and increasingly the range and numbers of users to make it work.

I said (at length, in a book), Trump's base is full of people who are bored, resentful, angry about the outcome of their own lives. They were happy to punish others for that - until they realized Trump hates *them*, too. They didn't see it until gas got expensive, but... okay 🤷‍♂️

Interesting that the $5,000-for-everyone promise seems to have basically sunk without a trace as an electoral issue

Not K-kauppa getting targeted by implacable AI swarms. Is nothing holy
UPDATE: Finland is now also reporting disruptions to supermarket refrigeration systems. Temporary temperature irregularities were detected overnight in some K Group stores. The incidents appear to be on a smaller scale, with the cause still under investigation. Finland now joins seven other European countries reporting similar incidents this morning. The situation continues to develop, and further reports from other European countries cannot be ruled out.

There’s a tonne of early voting numbers out there- but this, for me, is by far the most revealing. Aligns with what we’re hearing from the ground in Texas with both campaigns. Huge Hispanic turnout, driven, it seems, by ICE.
There are now 642k Texans who have early voted who did not vote at all in the 2024 Presidential election. 48% of them (310,997) are Hispanic. And 39% (122,461) of those Hispanic surge voters are under the age of 30.

Living one hour north of Manhattan means that sometimes coyotes stalk your home. They may plan to devour your puppies. This is frontier country. Many don’t know this. Six years ago, an eagle snatched a snickerdoodle from a backyard. People don’t comprehend.

The two AI mammoths left their IPOs too late. They are now popping up demanding $3T in combined market cap, just as the sentiment is fracturing.

31 Oct 1993 - at the end of one of the deadliest weeks in The Troubles - UDA gunmen entered the Rising Sun bar in Greysteel & murdered seven people. Another man died later. A gunman shouted "trick or treat" before opening fire. Families of the victims would help pull NI back from the brink.
“Mr Hume we prayed for you round my daddy’s coffin last night, that you would be successful so that what has happened to us wouldn’t happen to any other family” #SpotlightNI #TheTroubles @mandy_mcauley

Pretty sure newly purchased garments have distinct olfactory provenance. That a seasoned sartorial sommelier could identify a t-shirt’s country of origin in a blind smell test. Ah yes, I’m getting notes of Por Senchey west of Phnom Penh.

It's been the long goodbye, but Carla Lockhart will quit the DUP early next week. She's its youngest MP with its biggest majority. She will join forces with Jim Allister - even if not joining his party. Double trouble lies ahead for the DUP. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/comme…

The thing about Koreans is that they still DO things. They jack up memory prices 600%, have 9% stock market rallies, launch deranged KPop bands, do anti-capitalist horror movies, steal $6B from these feckless Yankees, etc. Japan is just kind of sitting there.
Koreans are out to crash the entire global markets.

The sadly now late but forever great PATRICK STEWART made one of the great guest appearances as the ‘debonair’ star conductor of the Seattle Opera Guild - Alistair Burke - in one of my favourite episodes of FRASIER (2003) RIP Sir Patrick (1940-2026)

Real cultural gulf with some countries/nationalities that don't get this is a very obvious sign of upper class behaviour (as opposed to being covered in the latest designer labels brazenly displayed).

Google value plunges by $500bn as AI search hits ad sales. The irony - I remember delivering AI projects around the year 2000, and being told that the term 'AI' was being replaced by the term 'search technologies' because of Google's dominance. I really have lived through a whole cycle of the tech industry. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm9q…

Fair play to @dantomlinsonmp. Can't imagine many ministers being a) having the guts to do this live and b) being so on top of their brief they do it well.
'The minister has very bravely offered to go through some of the charts from the budget' @dantomlinsonmp joins @EdConwaySky at the screen to talk through the numbers behind today's announcement trib.al/WOFfeba 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602
