Its funny because I don't think Szoboszlai is particularly good in any one thing consistently - he just does random things really good sporadically.

I've called Szoboszlai Liverpool's version of Bruno at times for various reasons (good and bad), and I stand by it.
Clearly an excellent footballer with lots to offer, but is it just a coincidence that the Reds are more balanced without him?

I mean, there was a very clear and valid reason people were talking about him because he went to known Zionist spots and his wife follows pro IDF pages, two things can be true at once, he’s a Liverpool player now so what else are people supposed to do? Clown

The narrative around Wirtz is mental to be honest.
Go look back at the first 10 games of last season, he could have easily had 10+ assists.
He set Salah up for 3 clear chances in one game, I think people thought he was a different type of player.
He creates chances, but he doesn't force it, he can control a game without really creating a top chance, although he still does.
He created 3-4 goal scoring chances on the weekend, and about 8 transitions from defence to attack that ended in a goal threat.
It has always been about giving him space, I've said it for months and months, him and Szoboszlai are a problem, because Szoboszlai loves to drive with the ball into the space Wirtz occupies.
It is all about getting the balance, not the quality of Wirtz, and Iraola is clearly getting it right.
Match Thoughts:
- Another excellent match from Isak, Barcola, & Wirtz
- Hope Wirtz is ok
- Gakpo was everywhere
- Bit sloppy from Alisson but still a clean sheet
- Jacquet is box office
- The way Anfield lit up when Rio came on was electric
- Bermuda Triangle has been defeated
I like the idea of United replacing Carrick with the entire Class of 92 and Benny Hill playing on the stadium PA
Seeing people’s eyes open about how negative Szoboszlai’s presence is in the side and how it impacted Wirtz’s ability to do what he does best
