President Trump's welfare reforms could move at least 10 million people from welfare to work — even more than the historic 1996 reform achieved.
But some states are already trying to claw the wins back!
FGA CEO @TarrenBragdon's latest for @FoxNewsOpinion. 🔗 BELOW.
In one state, roughly 60% of Medicaid providers have not been revalidated in the past 5 years. In another state, 26%. Federal rules require a check at least every 5 years, and states are not meeting even that floor. 🔗 thefga.org/research/states-m…
Nearly 15% of Medicaid fee-for-service payments are improper because of provider enrollment errors — $51 billion of $348 billion. States enroll providers and then go years without checking them again. New FGA research by @PolicyWithPaige. 🧵 + thefga.org/research/states-m….

Steal $5 MILLION from Medicare and think you’ll get off easy? Think again.
This isn’t just about stolen money. It’s about stolen TRUST.

613 orders. 448 EBT cards. More than $500,000 in SNAP benefits allegedly stolen.
Federal prosecutors say a Florida convenience store owner purchased EBT benefits at roughly half their value, then used 448 SNAP cards to place 613 orders totaling $442,682.97, helping fuel a scheme that allegedly diverted more than $500,000 in taxpayer-funded food assistance intended for vulnerable families.
This is exactly why benefit integrity matters. Fraud schemes like this don't just steal taxpayer dollars, they take resources away from those who genuinely need assistance. CWFIA remains at the forefront of the fight against public assistance fraud, advancing this issue all the way to Sacramento, Washington, D.C. and the White House in 2026.

WIC does not allow soda or candy, and its tighter nutrition standards improve participants' diet quality. Food stamps have no such rule — which is why USDA approved junk food waivers for 18 states in 2025 alone. New FGA research from @PolicyWithPaige: thefga.org/research/food-sta…
New Jersey found 6,600 noncitizens on its voter rolls, and about 400 of them cast ballots — in a single state. FGA's Michael Greibrok in @NRO on the registration loophole behind it. 🔗 BELOW. thefga.org/op-eds/noncitizen…
72% of food stamp enrollees are also covered by government-sponsored health insurance, mostly Medicaid, and more than 80% of children on food stamps are covered by taxpayer-funded insurance. Healthier diets would cut those costs too. 👇 thefga.org/research/food-sta…

The Trump administration is wise to make nutrition a bigger part of food stamps, and states are wise to take them up on the offer, writes @PolicyWithPaige.

Stopping fraud is a top priority for the Trump Administration.
Every dollar we take back from fraudsters is a dollar that can go to caring for America's seniors.
