people talking about trans sports the way they used to talk about Israel and palestine a few years ago 😭 it's actually really straightforward but cis people are easily propagandized
ankle (@ankleknuckle) profile pictureankle@ankleknuckleNov 5
not to be too centrist, but i think the most frustrating part abt the trans sport discourse is that no one has any idea what theyre talking about. this is a sort of complicated biology question, and everyone thinks they can solve it by thinking abt it for a few minutes

it really wasn't that long ago that the prevailing view was that your attraction was determined by your sex. cis gays were able to partially escape this through the broad acceptance of sexuality as distinct from sex, but that's still considered a deviation for your sex
vltrlin (@camonega) profile picturevltrlin@camonegaNov 5
one thing ive noticed is some cis people can comprehend transsexualism thru the lens of “shes so lesbian she became a man, because men like women” or the inverse with “gay men so gay they become women”, but dont get how gay FTMs or lesbian MTFs work

why would discord prioritize supporting a $2000 phone that barely anyone has yet? this is a "should get done soon" task but not like a top 5 priority. any bugs apps have on the duo will get blamed on Apple anyway

Alternative framing: I expect Discord to be out of business within 2 years

the idea that trans people would have more rights if we were more agreeable is pure fantasy. we could be the nicest people in existence and that would not even register a little in the public consciousness in comparison to the fear mongering by bot farms and conservatives

One political problem that trans people face—which, for example, ethnic minorities do not—is that we do not have a normal distribution of personality types. Coming out selects *hard* for low-agreeableness, which imo explains some of why we’re so bad at politics.

"any pronouns" in bio yet so out of touch with trans people that they don't know gay cis men are called out for this all the time too 😭

gay men hate on vaginas and call them all kinds of names yet they're never called transphobic. why does everyone have to like dick
