I left Moonshot by TechCabal more convinced than ever that Africa is building for now and the future. Over the course of the event, I got to see some of the ideas, products and ambitious solutions founders across the continent are putting forward for problems I did not even think needed solving. Beyond the creativity, the magnitude of the problems they are trying to solve and the scale of what some of these ideas could become was fascinating. One thing was particularly clear: AI is no longer a conversation reserved for technology companies. It is a central part of almost every industry from financial services and healthcare to commerce, education, agriculture and enterprise operations. The question is no longer if AI is here to stay but how we apply it meaningfully, where it can fill existing gaps, and how we use it to build solutions that work in our own context. Beyond the sessions, I appreciated the conversations with investors, founders and other people building across the ecosystem. Hearing different perspectives on sectors of interest, investment priorities, technological gaps and the opportunities ahead was genuinely valuable. Some of the conversations were insightful, some brutally honest like they were targeted at me, but all contributed to a better understanding of the work ahead. The genuine willingness to exchange ideas, share experiences, challenge assumptions and think together about what is possible was particularly encouraging. Africa has its challenges. We know that. But there is also an incredible amount of talent, ambition and ingenuity here. And most importantly, the infrastructure, network, capital, tools and support systems needed to help the next generation of African companies succeed are also being built. There is a lot of work ahead, but Africa is not sitting around waiting for the future. We are building it.
I’ll be at Moonshot 🚀 Looking forward to meeting founders, startup operators, builders, investors, and interesting people working on ambitious ideas across Africa. Always keen to exchange ideas, explore collaborations, and meet people building things worth paying attention to. If you’ll be there too, drop a comment or send me a DM let’s connect🤝

I’ve not been in a great place lately, I’m going through a divorce with kids involved and it’s been so much harder than I thought. It was my 50th birthday yesterday and I took sleeping tablets so I could sleep through it. That 2nd half meant fucking everything to me, it really did.

Again, fuck football, fuck the referee, fuck the red card. There’s a duty of care. The goalkeeper did not intend to kill the guy or make such horrible tackle, he was just trying to do what every goalkeeper will do, which is to take one for the team, especially in the last moment of the game. However, after the tackle, he is aware it was horrible, even if that was not his planned, he’s aware that it was horrible, he should have checked on him IMMEDIATELY, not walk off with some aura, shaking your team mate. It was after everyone was shouting, that was when he went back. He was the first at the scene, he should have checked on him right there and not walk off. It is football, these things happen, but don’t just walk off after you know you’ve made a horrible challenge, even if you didn’t intend to.
Be calming down. He walked away because evennhe knew it was red card, but he went back as soon as he saw it was serious. You people don't play football?

We praise God all mighty that you're alive. How far with those laptops? Or even my lawsuit? How far with either?
Yesterday, I was fighting for my life. No one noticed that I didn’t tweet at all, except for one person who slid into my DM to check up on me. Never place anyone above yourself. Always make yourself a priority. If anything happens to you, the world will move on as though you never existed.

He is 40 years old 🇧🇪 At 14, expelled from school for missing classes due to youth team duties, then dropped from the national team after clashing with the coach His mother and sister both battled cancer when he was in his early 20s. His mother died, sister survived. He played a match right after her funeral. Faced family eviction after parents divorce. Grew up in an area with drugs/gangs and admits he could have taken a "wrong path" Speaks 5+ languages fluently. Dutch, French, English, German, plus some Spanish/Italian Earned a Global MBA from Manchester Business School while captaining Man City, graduating with merit/distinction. Became Bayern Munich's first Black manager in Bundesliga history. And also first Bundesliga black manager. Married lifelong Man City fan Carla Higgs in 2011. They have three kids (daughter Sienna, sons Kai & Caleb) Scored a stunning 30 yard screamer vs Leicester that helped seal Man City's 2018/19 title. His teammates yelled at him not to shoot! 😂 I remember this very wellll Led Burnley to Championship title with record 101 points in his first managerial season using stylish, possession football. Won the Bundesliga title in his first season (2024/25) with games to spare Overall record at Bayern is over 100 games, 76 wins, 13 draws, 11 losses (76% win rate) His Bayern side scored 100 Bundesliga goals in just 28 matches this season. Vincent Kompany's parents taught him he'd need to work "twice as hard" as others due to his background . . . . Having a loved one live with cancer is very hard on the mind. Having 2? Insanely critical on anyone's mental health. And then the pain of loosing one of them (his mother) at a period where you are just getting into your career and life..... Is unimaginable . . You see, Vincent Kompany has gone through a very tough beginning. And it would be very hard to grasp that he would still have the mentality to pull off these achievements in his career as a player and coach . . Now for you reading this.... You have a past. I have a past. Vincent Kompany has his own past. And I particularly don't know how hard your past was, or it's mental implications on you But what I do know is that, your past is not above your willpower as an human. You can still grow the willpower to take active small steps consistently, to outgrow the negative impacts that your past has on you. Yes. You have to outgrow your past and it's hold on you. That's what Vincent Kompany did. He didn't forget his past or pretended it didn't happen. Instead, Vincent grew his mental state resilience and toughness, so that his past won't have any hold or control over the decisions he makes in the present, that will shape out his future. And to grow your own mental toughness, you just need to focus on 1-2 things that absolutely bring so much meaning and fulfilment to you. And then do it so long that it becomes your new "normal" (overriding your past hurt gradually with time) Yours can be your spouse, your business, your kids, parents, siblings or like Vincent's... Family, friend and football. . . He has the heart of a fighter and I know whatever health issues he's currently facing now, he will overcome, just as he did all through his life, till this moment 🩶 On behalf of everyone reading this, I wish Vincent Kompany a speedy full recovery. Get well soon brother. Your teammate just won the Ballon d'Or and everyone can't wait to have you back in the celebrations 🫂❤️ . . . ✍️ Vincent the Therapist
🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Vincent Kompany reportedly dislocated his shoulder after collapsing at Bayern Munich's training ground. Doctors have ruled out a heart attack and stroke but are still investigating the cause of his collapse, with seizures also reported. The Bayern manager remains hospitalized and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

You really don't realize the size of Manchester united as a club. Arsenal, the current pl champs got knocked out yesterday by Fleetwood town ( bottom of 4th division) and there's no outrage. I remember the whole football world was ablaze when Grimsby happened
