This is actually a condescending view of working-class people. I grew up in a working-class immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster and The Cheesecake Factory for "fancy nights out." But even we understood that the White House should not look like the inside of a Red Lobster. Working-class people are not culturally illiterate just because their experiences are shaped by their limited means.
Does Obama not understand that to most Americans the Cheesecake Factory is a very nice and fancy restaurant?

Getting real tired of the Surprised Pikachu routine this guy does. Wow, AI got so good at hacking that we can’t keep up? You β€œno longer think we’ll be able to patch all the bugs”?? Who could have predicted this??? Many people! For decades! Including Altman himself! He said he was β€œnot optimistic that any of this will work” when it comes to security measures to contain superintelligent AI. He said that in 2015, just before founding OpenAI and then spending a decade straight driving this technology to the dangerous and unstable place that we’re in today.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: "I don't even know a dramatic enough word to use… models can find bugs that are outside of the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do… hardware-level, insane stuff… I no longer think we're gonna be able to just patch all the bugs." It's over.

An internet where every company has to pay big bucks to Anthropic and OpenAI every month just to avoid destruction by ever-present swarms of rogue AI agents is not nearly as economically valuable as the free internet we've enjoyed up to now.
The proliferation of AI cyberattacks may signal the end of the internet as a public good. We may only be able to use it in the future if everyone shells out big bucks for private security. That will reduce the internet's economic value. noahpinion.blog/p/the-intern…
