The Different Grading Scales Different grade levels for graded collectibles are based on factors such as centering, corners, edges, surface wear, and print defects. Higher grades typically command higher prices, as collectors seek pristine examples for display or inclusion in their collections.  For example, even a small deviation between grades, such as a 9.8 vs 9.6 can be significant in terms of marketplace value—e.g. Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9.8 grade is valued at $74,000 USD vs $18,000 for a CGC 9.6 grade. Here are some examples of different grade levels for graded collectibles: ➡️ MINT 
An extraordinary overall condition card that has a minor flaw in an area of centering, edges, corners, or surface 
➡️ Poor 
The lowest possible grade assigned, a heavily defaced collectible with a number of major defects 
➡️ Fair 
Can have one catastrophic flaw such as a staple hole, small area of missing surface, severe creasing, and/or writing on the surface 

➡️ Very good/Fine (VG/FN) 
A comic book that has enough positive qualities to make it better than a VG+, but has enough detracting qualities to keep it from being a FN- 

➡️ Fine/fine 
A book is "fine" in a "fine" dust jacket and clean, spine-straight, free from defects and will be acceptable to the collector. This methodology carries over to different collectible categories, such as trading cards, comics and physical video games. Keep in mind that there are multiple grading authorities in the space, such as CGC, PSA, Beckett, etc, and they each have different grading systems.
