The invitation was posted the afternoon of July 25, and the event was canceled less than three days later.
History doesn’t judge institutions by the statements they issue to cover their cowardice. It judges them by what they do under pressure, when doing the right thing has a cost.
In the end, the bookstore owner didn’t just cancel the event. She took down the post on July 30. A security justification followed, even though armed security had already been addressed and accepted before the cancellation. The timeline matters.
