Four kids at a school can sign up and play in the NECC. They have no in person requirements. They don't require the school to commit to supervising them. What supervision are you expecting?
If this was in NACE I would be infinitely more critical.

I was STOKED for this announcement!
My take:
This is a refreshing change in the ecosystem. Folks including @themissingward have been advocating for this since I was chair of the CC. This is overall positive.
Honestly, I'm excited for a fresh change to the ecosystem and to see how it goes. I find this model far more sustainable than the current model and I'm curious to see how membership reacts to the chance.
The Competition Council reflects HOURS on end for changes such as these and I'm sure it's been through a myriad of alterations.
Shoutout to NACE for pushing the mold of the current industry!

Another interesting juxtaposition on the collegiate timeline today. Rough news for some involved with an upcoming event, while another event is going smoothly.
Remember, when choosing who and what to support in this space, look beyond the flash and focus on the fundamentals.

We have an absolute duty to make it fiscally responsible and sustainable so the people behind us have the same opportunities the players do now.

We have a responsibility to our students to build something grassroots. Sustainable.
Bring together K-12 and collegiate ecosystems to make decisions collectively, guided and supported by industry professionals.

In case people forgot 🤷🏻♀️
- people work tireless days/nights in esports & gaming
- they are human beings
- tend to struggle with balancing work & personal life
- they only have so much control
- they're doing the best they can
- the burnout is real
- things take time

I personally am walking away with a renewed energy and a clear vision.
