These booking fees are getting ridiculous. How can the ticket cost £37.50 and yet I would have to pay £43.20?!

More Oliver Reed! Check him out dancing up a storm in one of my favourite UK cult movies, Edmond T. Gréville’s BEAT GIRL (1960): a wonderfully lurid trip through the beatnik coffee bars and strip clubs of Soho.
Set to John Barry’s fantastic score (his first), this scene sees Gillian Hills’ teen temptress heading down to a Soho basement and frugging away with Ollie Reed in the checked shirt. Enjoy.
Took my youngest as an early Christmas to see one of her favourites Panchiko as her first proper inside gig. Shout out to the dude who let her watch from the front of the balcony.
My work has used AI to create some promotional work and it's truly atrocious. The fact that they can't see that is as depressing as the fact they didn't employ someone to do it. This is what we're dealing with, people who don't care.
Insanely good price, annoyed I paid more worldofbooks.com/en-gb/produ…
Seeing Mike D in Manchester next week. I resent the fact that after driving all that way I have to pay £20 for approx. 8hrs parking.

So Zavvi shutting down and HMV shutting their flagship store, physical media is going to be harder and harder to find in the future and prices will be gouged by the likes of Amazon.

A Hot Wheels car costs basically the same today as it did when your dad was a kid. Mattel has held the price for 58 years, and that one decision is why the bottom of the car went blank.
Run the inflation math and it gets wild. The original 1968 car was 59 cents, which works out to about $5.40 in today's money. The one at Walmart right now is $1.25. Somebody had to find that missing $4 inside the car itself.
Engineers took it from the one spot a kid never looks. The 1997 base was die-cast metal with a tooled driveshaft, exhaust, and suspension. The 2026 base is a flat sheet of injection-molded plastic. Hot Wheels makes around 850 million cars a year, so a few grams of zinc per car turns into millions of dollars.
And the detailed base survived. It moved shelves.
Hot Wheels sells a premium line called Car Culture with a full metal chassis, rubber tires, and all the undercarriage detail put back. It runs $8 to $10. Same factory, same scale, 6x the price. Kids buy the $1.25 one and never flip it over. The adults buying the $8 version photograph the bottom.
That split is working absurdly well. Hot Wheels did $723 million in the first half of 2026, up 16%, and just passed Barbie as Mattel's biggest brand.
Mattel still makes the 1997 base. They charge $8 for it now and call it premium.
