⭐️Sheriff Defends Flock Cameras After Federal Judge Throws Out 91 Pounds of Meth: “We’ll Keep Using Them” "We’re Not Stopping Until the Supreme Court Says Otherwise" Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado held a press conference addressing the federal ruling that suppressed evidence in a major meth case over the use of Flock/ALPR cameras. On October 1, U.S. District Judge Sara Hill ruled in United States v. Kyle that a Tulsa County deputy’s warrantless query of historical vehicle location data through Flock and VehicleManager systems violated the Fourth Amendment. She described the technology as “indiscriminate mass surveillance” and suppressed all evidence obtained afterward, including roughly 91 pounds of methamphetamine seized during a May traffic stop on I-44. The government is appealing to the 10th Circuit. At the press conference, Sheriff Regalado stated that the deputy followed department policy and the legal standards understood at the time of the stop. He said the office will continue using automated license plate readers until higher courts resolve the issue, calling it reckless to treat the action as unconstitutional based on one district court ruling. He expressed hope that the case reaches the U.S. Supreme Court for a definitive decision on the constitutionality of the technology. Regalado highlighted the system’s value for investigating crime, deterring criminal activity, and locating missing children. He also noted internal safeguards, including requirements for an investigative purpose and case number, a roughly 30-day data limit, monitoring of searches, and the fact that no misuse by Tulsa County users has been identified. The ruling is limited to this case and does not ban the technology, but it is among the first federal decisions to hold that a warrantless historical ALPR search can violate the Fourth Amendment. Video of the sheriff’s full remarks below. ❓Should police be able to pull 30 days of your vehicle’s location history on a minor traffic stop without a warrant just because you have an out-of-state plate? ❓Are we heading toward a future where every highway drive is permanently logged? ❓Why should anyone have to justify where they’ve been for the past 30 days to a deputy on the side of the highway?

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in Virginia after police showed up at a mother’s home at 2 A.M. and TOWED HER CAR over a SH00TING she had NOTHING to do with... ...because a FLOCK CAM pointed them to the WRONG CAR!!! Now her car is a TOTAL LOSS and she MIGHT LOSE HER JOB!!!! Yes, you read that right, a Flock camera got it wrong, the cops took her car ANYWAY, and she’s the one paying for it. Her name is Rosalyn Crump, she’s a mom raising 3 boys in Richmond VA On July 29th, just before 2 in the morning, Richmond police officers showed up outside her home on Sussex Street. She was ASLEEP, but someone woke her up and told her police were outside and her car was being towed. Police say the Flock system had linked her 2012 Hyundai Elantra to a sh00ting near Gilpin Court and body camera footage shows the officers shining flashlights through her windows. At one point, one of them seemed to doubt they even had the right car. They noticed her KIDS’ CAR SEATS were buckled in the back, but they towed it anyway. Rosalyn came outside and told them flat out: “Y’all got the wrong car.” She told them she’d been at her mom’s house all day, came home at 4, and waited for her kids to get off the bus at 5. Nobody had driven her car. An officer decided her story didn’t match the Flock data and said on camera that she was, “definitely not telling the truth.” Minutes later, Seibert’s Towing hauled her car away. If you think that was insane... well, IT GETS WORSE. About FOUR DAYS later, she finally got a phone call. Her car had been released FOUR HOURS after they took it... because police had already found the person they were actually looking for. NOBODY FROM THE POLICE TOLD HER!!!!! When she went to get her car back, she found it DAMAGED from the tow. The towing company’s VP admitted fault in writing. Then the claim went to insurance, and the company said it could no longer settle with her directly. Her mechanic’s verdict: TOTAL LOSS. Richmond police now admit Flock cameras led them to the wrong vehicle. Meanwhile, Rosalyn has lost wages, can’t get to work on time, and is paying for a RENTAL CAR out of her own pocket just to get her boys where they need to go. She literally did nothing wrong and was home with her kids. THIS IS INSANE!!!!!!!!

As the data isn't publicly accessible anymore, we can't be sure what's what -- so it's probably safe to assume that some of these "In Planning" devices are already live, if not most of them. Similarly, it could be that some devices are out of commission. That's what @therealDeFlock is building, a more accurate and up-to-date version that relies on reports from people on the ground (maps.deflock.org) Ours is simply a tool based on JM's research that found a lot more than what Flock has disclosed and what people have been able to find and report so far; a more comprehensive map.

Replying to @therealDeFlock
In many cities/counties — including Knox County, TN — approval limits are based on the life of the contract, not individual payments. As it turns out, those guardrails don't really work because they're often unenforced. We can keep reminding them.
