ever wonder why Iniesta was such an effective ball-carrier? the secret is in the upper-sidefoot contact he made with the ball consistently.

as long as Spalletti has the same ideas, absolutely, Juve will struggle. it's not player quality, Spalletti is holding Juve back.

Do you think Juve is gonna be bad again this year, then?

not sure if intentional by Almeyda, Sevilla had interesting solution vs Flick's offside-line. more passes to-feet with deep runs + running momentum. less distance on the final pass to break the offside-line. encourages low-to-high movement + uses momentum to exploit offside.

similar structure to today, 3-2-4-1, extra body and more positional stability in midfield, natural 3+GK in deep build-up, fluid rotations from the front 5 + Lucumi. much, much better from Spalletti, albeit still struggling OOP.
a mix of realism and my idea of what Juve need to do. - Ndoye adds extra box presence to compensate for Zirkzee - Cambiaso better on the right, back-up to Kalulu (pair Chico/Kalulu and Ndoye/Cambiaso) - wouldn't mind Thuram sale to bolster MID - LCB/CCB obvious weaknesses.

"Si parla tanto di Kolo Muani, ma il problema è che bisogna arrivarci, lì davanti, e ci arrivi solo se i due esterni si inventano una giocata, riescono a saltare l'uomo e magari a metterla dentro. sensational football. that's proper coaching, old Spalletti ought to learn some.
Aquilani's football is so far ahead of whatever it is I've been seeing of Spalletti over the past 9 months that it is astonishing.

Aquilani's Sassuolo (barely 2 months) have a clearer identity than Spalletti's Juventus (more than a year).

since Douglas Luiz is now also dropping between the CBs, are we finally going to come to terms with the fact that Locatelli dropping was, in fact, a Spalletti instruction?

if not Luiz, it's Koop, an explicit instruction nonetheless.

this is not exactly technical improvement. this is: - good seperation to receive - control + scan forward means (rehearsed) usually. which is a reflection of a key point for me in pro football, not often is capacity IMPROVED, it's moreso reduced PFC engagement + more time.
one-touch, pass. one-touch, pass. one-touch, pass. one-touch, pass. a succession of successful line-breaking passes to escape the opponent’s press and get in behind them. technical execution has been the area of greatest improvement since Michael Carrick took over.

A recruitment principle that should govern how your club recruits is the Age/Performance Phases. - Academy - Pre-Peak - Peak - Post-Peak - Ageing there are preferences for which for positions, but generally your finances/past performance dictate which of the 4 to prioritize.

I'm sorry, this cannot be the rest defence and defensive transition of a professional team, let alone Juventus.

today's goal.
oh look, amazing what happens when you don't commit 7 or 8 players ahead of the ball with 15-20 meters between your lines. this should be a template for Spalletti, 5 players behind the ball, short distances to make things easier for your players, ready to defend counters.

this is the rest-defence and defensive transition of an actual professional team, but sure, Di Gregorio is the biggest issue here.
I'm actuallly speechless man you couldn't convince me there's a worse goalkeeper out there than this piece of shit teapawt.org/AddinallKa55892/status…

how long will it take for Juventus fans (hopefully the club too) to realize that Spalletti is a significant part of the problem?

the one time we shorten the distances, occupy the pitch with some balance of runs and layoffs, we carve through them easily. Spalletti is hurting this team.

the amount of Spalletti-induced issues with the way Juventus play is incredible.

then, for some amazing reason i haven't clocked, he wants lots of runs into depth, and so decides to have SIX! players consistently making depth runs at the *same time*. not opposite movements, not 1-come-1-go, no no, everyone makes depth runs.

and if Juve finally find some final 3rd touches, the idea is very clear, park 4 stationary players into the box, have 3 players wide on the ball, and zero coverage on the far side, cross, get countered. rinse and repeat.
