It’s difficult enough getting people to pay for content. Difficult to find good content too. Driving people to pay and then not making the content available or providing a contact path for disgruntled subscribers is a massive fail and erodes trust, in the website and its writers.

Hey @theartsdesk, I’m having a lot of trouble logging in to my account. I’ve paid my subscription - the fiver left my account last week - I try logging in with my password and I’ve requested a reset twice.
Some brilliant candid shots from Chris Christodoulou at this year's Proms: theartsdesk.com/classical-mu… @theartsdesk

No way to unsubscribe, stop the regular card payment and can’t access any other way of contact The Arts Desk. It appears as though the paid tier lacks a bit of vital UX.

The only place I can find a contact form is on the password reset page and when I submit a message it simply reloads the page with a new form. No confirmation received in a web browser and nothing in my inbox (or spam folder). Screengrabs attached.

To be clear @Moneybox on Saturday is not being cut. But its Wednesday sister programme Money Box Live is being axed. A very sad decision not just for the excellent presenter @FelicityHannah who has so made it her own and the great producers who have worked on it but for the growing audience it serves at such a low cost.

I'm sorry, WHAT?
Very sad to learn that Radio 4's The World Tonight is to be killed off in the latest round of BBC cuts. It has a long and honourable history as one of the more thoughtful BBC news programmes and I am proud to have been associated with it for more than twenty years.

"Spare, fragmentary and poignantly lyrical, as if the strings were sometimes the voices of nature and sometimes a profound human response." Guest reviewer @carolinefrmus on United Strings of Europe’s Purcell Room debut — a programme exploring music, deafness, and listening.

Frequently by journalists too who, today, run Substacks which are, simply, blogs.
When I read some of the deranged incentive against classical musicians posted in the comments on their Facebook clips, I remember with amusement the days when it was the bloggers who were reviled as the great unwashed threat to the art form.

Radio 4 putting up a writer from a blog run by one of their own broadcast journalists trotting out the same lines from 20 years ago. Jesus. “It’s a bit of a nuanced view here,” says the writer who clearly doesn’t know what nuanced actually means.
