Ghazipur: A 17-year-old Class 10 student from the Dildarnagar police station area has levelled serious allegations against Constable Mohit Yadav, accusing him of sexually exploiting her by deceiving her with a promise of marriage, allegedly blackmailing her with objectionable photographs, and pressuring her to have relations with other people. The student said that pressure is being put on her to change her statement.

Invoking the Constitution to seek justice is neither an endorsement of the system nor an absolution of its failures, particularly when it's the very legal framework one is compelled to invoke before its courts.
The more pertinent question is whether Muslims can even meaningfully invoke the fascist Constitution or whether they'll simply be left languishing in prison for decades without trial, as has repeatedly happened.

If secularism claims that no ideology should be considered superior to another, but simultaneously presents itself as the superior framework for governing society, isn't it making the very claim of ideological superiority that it supposedly rejects?
Ironically for all the support that Sharjeel has for his brand of religious supremacism, it is because of religious supremacism that he's unjustly incarcerated, albeit a different brand. Terrible person to bring to the debate. Maulana Aazad was a strong proponent of secularism and unlike Sharjeel did not believe liberation can only come with ahl e kitab. Azad was also fairly critical of Islam and did not regard it as some pure, blemish free entity that Sharjeel regards it. Sharjeel's idea of Islam is a Hindutvawadi's idea of Hinduism.
