Fifty years ago, before he became the University of Michigan's legendary football coach, I had the great privilege of playing football for Coach Lloyd Carr at Westland John Glenn High School in suburban Detroit. He formed young men, led the team to an 8-1 record, and built an amazing football program that remains a powerhouse to this day.

Indian Lake ‘76 Historic Boathouse Celebration america250.org/event/__trash…

Beautiful progress on the Indian Lake ‘76 Boathouse! 🇺🇸 This weekend, young artist Shelby Milnes (granddaughter of longtime Indian Lake resident Gordon Milnes) brought new life to the historic ‘76 American flag with a fresh coat of paint. Fifty years ago, Jimmy Bogard originally painted this flag on the boathouse to honor America’s Bicentennial and our veterans. We know he’d be smiling down with pride today. A wonderful tribute to our shared history and community spirit. Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🎉❤️

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has released a response to JD Vance's comments about Pope Leo XIV: 'For over a thousand years, the Catholic Church has taught just war theory and it is that long tradition the Holy Father carefully references in his comments on war. A constant tenet of that thousand-year tradition is a nation can only legitimately take up the sword ‘in self-defense, once all peace efforts have failed’ That is, to be a just war it must be a defense against another who actively wages war, which is what the Holy Father actually said: ‘He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war. When Pope Leo XIV speaks as supreme pastor of the universal Church, he is not merely offering opinions on theology, he is preaching the Gospel and exercising his ministry as the Vicar of Christ. The consistent teaching of the Church is insistent that all people of good will must pray and work toward lasting peace while avoiding the evils and injustices that accompany all wars'

NEW: I went on CNN today to talk about Trump’s attack on Pope Leo XIV. Here's what I said: — Pete Hegseth's Bible ends in the Old Testament. He never invokes the message of peace. — Hegseth's pastor, invited to speak at the Pentagon, has said he wants to ban public expressions of the Catholic faith in America. — For the first time in at least 40 years, there was no Catholic service at the Pentagon on Good Friday. — The Catholic Church is not just being marginalized by this administration. It is being attacked. Full interview:

Cardinal McElroy: “We are in the midst of an immoral war. We entered this war not out of necessity but rather choice…Each of these policy failures is equally a moral failure which under Catholic just war principles renders both the initiation of this war and any continuation of it morally illegitimate.” cathstan.org/voices/text-of-…

Esta es la reflexión completa que el Papa León compartió hoy en la Vigilia de Oración por la paz que presidió hoy en la Basílica de San Pedro. Se tienes dos minutos, conviene que la leas completa.

This is the American that embodies our best values and ideals. Not the man in the White House. I am grateful that the world can see a very different side of the American people through his faithful witness.
BREAKING: Pope Leo XIV on Trump’s warning to Iran of “civilization” destruction — “This is truly not acceptable. Here there are certainly questions of international law, but even more than this a question of morality for the good of people.” He adds the war is “continuing to escalate and is not resolving anything… is only provoking more hatred throughout the world.” “attacks on civilian infrastructure are against international law, but it is also against sign of the hatred and division that we are capable of.” Video @Reuters

🚨 MAJOR NEWS: Pope Leo XIV just declared the Iran War unjust. Called it a war crime. Said it is “not solving anything.” And told Americans directly — call Congress. End this war.

PRO-TIP: If you're the jerk who snatched Majchrzak's cap out of the child's hand I'd get out in front of this. Find out how to get the hat back to the kid and make a public apology. This won't end well unless you make it right quickly.
