After failing to contribute a single player to England’s World Cup squad, Liverpool start without a single English player. This is Richard Hughes’s legacy as sporting director.
#LFC starting XI vs Ipswich Town: Alisson; Araujo Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Munoz, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak.
Subs: Mamardashvili, Endo, Tsimikas, Barcola, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Nyoni, Koumas, Ngumoha.

Dolly Parton wrote “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” in a single day. Possibly the best and certainly the most lucrative use of time in the history of popular music. RIP xx
My take on the scoop of the year from @martynziegler
Make no mistake, this grubby plan to sell the greatest sporting show on earth will ruin it 😔

Out on Thursday, my biography of the most interesting man ever to have managed England. Author, screenwriter, singer and above all football man, Terry Venables.
The 1970 World Cup semi-final - Italy 4 West Germany 3 was called "the game of the century". Another semi-final, PSG v Bayern, has been the game of the 21st century.

Before we spend five trillion on whatever it is for planes that can fire nuclear missiles, do you think we could employ the odd security guard to ensure they don't get spray painted by Palestine Action. #brizenorton
Absolutely dreadful news. One of the loveliest men ever to take his place in a press box. God speed JC xx

@TraffordCouncil @AndyBurnhamGM it is always the most vulnerable who suffer during an emergency. The result of opening the Mersey floodgates on NYE was the wrecking of a respite centre for children in Urmston with special educational needs. They need help now.
This is a superb response from Peterborough. The way in which the FA Cup has been sabotaged - mostly by the FA itself - is one of the great pities of the modern game.
The Club have issued the following statement following the announcement that our Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie against Everton will be played on Thursday 9th January.

Of the seven Premier League clubs that were five points clear or more on Armistice Day, only one - Newcastle in 1995 - did not go on to win the title.
The sight of Trent Alexander-Arnold limping off the pitch will have sent a shiver down the spine of Liverpool fans 🤕

This is the train from Liverpool to Norwich. A four hour journey of 253 miles. It has three carriages operated by East Midlands Railway. All are dangerously overcrowded.
