First time meeting another dev who started on Klik & Play 🤝! His first game was on GBC and he's has been working on this for 11 years. Got me beat in both (~6 for Gaia Crisis) 😅.
So rare to meet a veteran in person. His game has the retro shooter feel on point. I'm a fan 😁.

Hey, I’m Mike 👋 I’m an indie game developer and writer from the Central Coast. My next game LOVE X LOVE is showing at PAX for the first time this weekend!
#paxaus #loveindies #indiedev
Our next video game is called LOVE X LOVE and I've been writing the story and the fictional radio show for the game here on X. If you dig video games, anime, lofi and love: follow along.
The radio show is called Love Advice Outta Time, hosted by DJs Mr Love and DLove. The show mixes curated love advice from X with lofi hiphop and ambient electronic music. Mixed in is the creative soup is the games evolving score / soundtrack and story. The dialogue from the show will become the script for that aspect of the game.
The game is a first person atmospheric narrative puzzle mystery that unfolds over many nights. We call it an 'Urban slice-of-life RPG' where you play a gig-economy driver searching for love in a city that is forever in night. For game updates, follow us here on X and join our DJs from 9pm somewhere @lovexloveshow ✌️
Lovers, we can't wait to meet you.

I grew up playing Sega and Nintendo games. It's wild to be showing @tkfyco 's next video game LOVE X LOVE right next door to them!
It also marks 3 years since I started this journey to build an indie studio that makes games and fiction starting over from zero.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the journey. Thank you to all of the Kids From Yesterday and our collaborators (Richard, Greg, Julian, Tahnee, Dylan) and our many friends and supporters.
One day, we'll make your new favourite thing ✌️

There’s a lot happening behind every Australian game: late nights, creative risks, stubborn bugs and people who keep showing up because they believe in what they’re making.
Melbourne International Games Week is a chance to bring those people together. ❤️
From Andrew sharing his insights on AI at GCAP to our team showing X300 at PAX Aus, we’re excited to be part of it.
A shoutout to @GCAP_int and @PAXAus teams, and friends behind the scenes. From our little Melbourne studio: thank you for making room for stories like ours.

Doggy Don't Care launches in 24 HOURS! 🐶
I'm proud of what I've made, and of sticking to the plan for over 3 years. I worked on it alone for most of that time, but it wouldn't exist in its current form without:
– @thomasbrushdev's course, which taught me 3D Unity development (& how to project confidence)
– Financial support from @ScreenNSW & @ScreenAustralia
– Chris Zukowski teaching me how to market a game
– Carlo helping with UI and illustrations
– @skylar_muffin modelling the adorable pawjama outfits + more
– Emily modelling the birds last minute
– Dom Parker (@dvalkyriemusic) composing the incredible music
- @indiEXP helping with launch PR outreach & socials
– @_GrandTourist supporting me the whole way
A few more things that helped / I enjoyed:
– Making the exact game I wanted to make and play
– Putting it into festivals, showcases, and events before it felt "ready"
– Made about 500 memes of the main character
I can't wait to see people playing Doggy Don't Care. Wishlist so you don't miss the launch discount.
24 HOURS UNTIL LAUNCH!

[it's cold outside as frozen brakes shriek across the night]
why does it feel forever too late though the night is always young? It was almost over. Then she called...
Wise: I'm 30. There was a guy in college who really liked me. I knew how he felt, but I was extremely reserved and never knew how to respond... I kept overthinking instead of talking to him, and by the time I realized what I'd lost, college was over.
Life moved on as it does.
I ended up in an arranged marriage that turned out to be a mistake. I'm now going through a divorce after realizing my husband wasn't a good person.
A mutual friend recently encouraged me to check in on that college guy. So, I did. I just wanting to reconnect as friends at first, and now we've been talking every few days.
The problem is... I genuinely like him, but I can't help wondering what he's thinking.
Does he believe I'm only talking to him because my marriage failed?
Does he think he's just my backup option?
The truth is, I never stopped wondering "what if" about us.
My silence back then came from fear and immaturity, not because I didn't care...
Middle City, if you were in his place, would you ever be able to trust my intentions, or is this something that's impossible to come back from?
DLove: Wise, that's beautiful. There's a lot you've shared and a lot to unpack. There's a reason you called, feel? Both tonight and when you called for College-guy.
A theme shows up forever in our conversations with Lovers all over this city and across time. The theme is a question. And, you've spoken it.
"What if?"
You said, "I never stopped wondering..." Some never dare dream. Some never ask that question for the fear of an answer.
Mr Love: But, you did, Wise.
DLove: But you did. As time goes on we grow and we change. You are more you today than you were back then. You made choices and live with those. All your many wins and the losses all lead you here. Change anything and this moment in time does not exist.
Mr Love: This is about truth. This about your courage. What if this is the moment?
DLove: See, your budding Love is not a problem, this moment is an opportunity.
And you've already done the hard work!
You have dared dream.
You have embraced starting over.
Many would have stayed in a loveless relationship settling for what they have. That comes with a cost. It's the silent story they tell about themselves not knowing it corrodes the soul, Wise.
You have not let that happen.
You've said with your actions that you deserve more.
You deserve this fresh start.
Wise: Appreciate, DJs. But if you were College-guy would you be able to trust my intentions? Are the mistakes of the past impossible to come back from? Do you know?
Mr Love: I'll start with the third just asked. It's simple: No one knows. You can only find out.
DLove: And I'll come now to your questions two. Too often we allow our minds to imagine horrors that don't exist. Have you asked College-guy about this or has he expressed doubts of his own? I'm asking are these troubles real, Wise? Or imagined?
Wise: No I haven't. Not in either case. I don't see them as imagined, though. I care about him and I put myself in his shoes. I'd think these things... I'd wonder.
DLove: And that's fine. I'm not shadowboxing the questions either. Often the best way to solve a problem is to consider first if it's a problem at all. But, for your sake and Middle City listening in, let's go with your premise.
Answer one: Yes. I think most people, ourselves and the Lovers our there, would be able to trust your intentions. Maybe now more than ever. When you're young you just don't know what you want.
Mr Love: All the way to spooky J, Lovers.
DLove: One hundred percent, Mr Love. So hand on heart you've earnt trust through experience. Further, the past is gone. College-guy made his choices too and he never sealed the deal. He also missed the moment.
Answer two: Redemption is always possible. Forgiveness is profound. In each of us the ability to heal the other through accepting what is and what has been. Though in this case I'd argue there is nothing to forgive.
Mr Love: How beautiful it is that you were able to find one another again in a moment made for you both... To have come back to one another.
No one realises how impossible this is. How magic.
You've been brave enough to come this far, Wise. Can you do something for me?
Wise: Yeah?
Mr Love: Ask him.
DLove: Thanks for calling in, Lover. Around every corner is another part of your story. All told our relationships are a tapestry of interconnected mosaics—a simple geometry that never ends. If you'd like to peer into that weave with us, or plain just want some love advice(!), drop a #loveadviceouttatime and we'll find you.
Mr Love: Lovers, we can't wait to meet you.

Sakurai-sensei is correct. We’ve got to push the bar on originality—impacting and evolving culture—more than ever, accepting sales may suffer as a consequence. Playing it safe is a risk too. And financial success is not the only lens through which we should look at our works.
Indie developers across the world are creating amazing and novel things on no money with little return. However there’s so many examples now of outlier success around original concepts and mashups.
#loveindies
Masahiro Sakurai says originality in video games doesn’t always lead to sales but an industry without originality will die a slow death.
“I am going to say something pretty harsh, but originality doesn’t really have much of an impact on sales. I actually think it ranks pretty low on the priority list. Everyone likely feels the same way, right? For example, with convenience store drinks, there probably aren't many people who go out and try every single new drink that comes out.
The more accustomed people become to something, the closer it gets towards being a standard, or rather, I think people tend to want a taste that matches their preferences and meets their expectations.
However, an industry that loses its originality will ultimately just die a slow death. I believe the industry exists today because of the people who pioneered new inventions and created new forms of enjoyment.
The Game Designers Award” will come to an end, but I hope you will continue to look out for novelty, originality, and the unique qualities that set a game apart. Thank you very much for everything.”

It happened, and it happened for a reason.

Now and then a line lingers—haunting you like they did. The hour dark and the seed of You, dormant, almost falls. Almost.
That feeling is 'There Is Something In The Walls' by Mabisyo.
