A 7am keynote feels like 4am to me when I fly to the east coast. One show I went to opened its exhibit floor early, and I walked almost all of it before any session started. Open the floor first and start the stage later.

Soon in eventtech too
This is a painful post to share. Today we’re announcing that we’re shutting down @heyollieai on November 6. I’m really proud of what we accomplished. We built an incredible personal assistant with a small team, and learned a ton. I’m grateful to our amazing team, our users, our investors, and everyone who supported us on this journey. We got close, but ultimately couldn't keep up. With Muse, Instinct, and others entering the space, it became harder to stand out, grow, and raise the capital we needed to succeed. I’ll share more lessons and thoughts in the coming weeks as the emotions become less raw.

When you become a more recognized creator, there are certain things you can't do anymore: - give blunt opinions - use sarcasm - comment on divisive issues - comment on brands - comment on politics The more you get in the public eye, the less freedom you have. It is still worth it

what is the best HD camera for virtual events and calls that I can take with me for extended travel? What is the best mic? I guess I am asking what your best setup is.

A brand can now run its own event next door to a big show and use that show's marketing to fill it. More companies now host their own side event during someone else's show to reach the audience that show built. Large events need to control part of it themselves, with microevents inside the show, or ticket and sponsor sales can erode quickly.

Social and entertainment experiences are the most in-demand type of side event in the Experience Design Report, with 37% putting them first. Side events can become a strong monetisation route when you control them and offer them to sponsors.

There are categories in events Someone operating a 12k event does not have the same skills as someone operating a 40K event + 200 more

Many people taking those $350k event jobs within AI companies are leaving after 6 months Wonder what’s going on? Maybe that you can’t run events with $4M revenue per employee

Some venues keep charging absurd prices because demand is permanent, and the demand is event planners. Naming one hotel as non-negotiable means living with whatever it charges. Stop rewarding venues that do this with repeat business and the practice has to change.
