One of the best things about remote work is getting to see my 2yo son throughout the day and play with him as soon as Iâm done.
Working at the office or commuting would take some of that away.
Thereâs always more work, but theyâre only this young once.

There is no level of expertise at which going back to the basics is unhelpful. My graduate advisor who was a world-renowned scientist in his field used to, once or twice a week, open an undergraduate textbook to a random page and study it for hours. He always saw new things.

Ibland saknar verkligheten karta.
SaktfÀrdighet riskerar skada oss i skarpa lÀgen.

What follows from this is that we skeptical of those who say that problems need âholistic solutionsâ.
In the real world, problems are solved incrementally; various imperfect steps in the right direction.

Today's #uglyinfographic speculates around the eternal question "Is #agile/#Scrum/#kanban/#lean/⊠good or bad?" I included the moral of the story in the bottom corner just to be sure.

This is not a terrible idea, if you view it as a tool for better meetings by making speaking imbalances clear. It reminds me of this experiment in VR designed to make you aware of conversational imbalances by having the words you speak literally pile up at your feet.

Minute With Mintzberg - 26: The Imbalanced Scorecard.
The social is much harder to measure than the economic. That's the trouble with the balanced scorecard: it is never balanced.

For every "could that meeting have been an email?" situation there is a "could that 20-deep email thread have been a 10 minute meeting?" situation.

Spot on, the old line "Don't bring me a problem unless you have a solution" stifles problem solving (which is usually best done with others), creates a culture of fear, and fuels bullshit and untested solutions that are presented with excessive confidence.
Forcing people to have an answer to every problem they report is an obstacle that makes it harder for them to report problems. - @ldavidmarquet

Sad to see the passing of Edgar Schein. He was one of the founding figures in the study of organizations. His ideas about culture are still among the best guides.

Can you help on this? I will be in Stockholm next week (Dec 5-9) and we had been planning a meetup but the organizer was unable to work things out.
Are you able to put something like this together? I know itâs last minute, but maybe you can make it happen.
