The 14,000 acre Plum Creek Fire in Nebraska has broken containment and is once again 0% contained.
Winds pushed the fire today, and a sudden wind shift blew it out of containment according to Brown and Rock County Deputy Emergency Manager Jessica Pozehl.
A large mutual aid request has gone out to multiple departments and agencies. This fire was a burn that escaped due to unexpected high winds ripping through the area.
The Torch team’s been hitting the road — testing our sensors, taking calls from the car, and making sure our fire detection tech is as reliable on the move as it is in your backyard.

At this rate, New Jersey is going to have the need for a Hotshot Crew in their state.
Folks out east are starting to get a clear view of why robust wildfire programs are needed and wildfires are not just a “western problem” anymore.
Maybe some of these elected officials from the eastern states can get on board with the much needed changes and support for our wildland firefighters.
This Jones Fire is a wake up call.
Back when we took Torch for a spin with a group of firefighters to show how our sensors can help in real-world scenarios.

Had dinner with @RickCarusoLA and the Mayor of Beverly Hills to talk wildfire recovery in LA.
We talked about his vision for the state and how @torchsensors could support rebuilding efforts in the Palisades. More soon.
I brought the vibes. Forgot the suit. Next time 😉
Drones in the air, sensors on the ground, and ready to test.
At Torch we test in real-world conditions - and it works. Reliable and ready to detect fires before they become disasters we’re always evolving to provide safety and protection.

Wildfire Emergency Grips Oklahoma
As of March 15, 2025, over 130 wildfires rage across 44 counties in Oklahoma, fueled by 60-80 mph winds and dry conditions, endangering homes and forcing evacuations. Fire crews are battling intense flames near Stillwater, Norman, and Chickasha, with some blazes still uncontained. The Oklahoma Emergency Management reports 40,000 without power, down from 70,000, as shelters open statewide. A red flag warning remains, with officials urging vigilance amid extreme fire danger.

Amazing that @torchsensors built the ultimate fire detection sensor and it runs on @helium the people’s network! @GavinNewsom @KarenBassLA @PGE4Me @SCE maybe you should look into this tech for fire prevention across LA and California!
This was always the dream!
Spent the day installing sensors with LA City Ranger Capt. Joyce in Griffith Park, near the observatory and Hollywood sign.
1/ @helium decentralized radio network has amazing coverage in LA—simple plug-and-play and keeps our sensors online.
2/ Helping people inspires them to help you (shoutout to Ryan and Michelle!).
3/ Demand for sensors here is huge.
4/ Rangers are next-level: part cop, firefighter, and paramedic all in one.

Ultra early fire detection sensors NEED to be deployed right now in LA and then complete coverage through the rest of California.
Listening to founders cough from smoke exposure on the phone while they push hardcore to get sensors up with LA rangers into strategic locations and hearing that capital has been a bottleneck for getting more sensors to people that want them, makes me question how the VC industry works.
Don't back some shitty app for wasting time, back serious things that make a difference.
Also cool to see @helium being useful as well on the decentralized radio front.
