साल 2008… Tesla दिवालिया होने की कगार पर थी। कंपनी के पास सिर्फ़ $9 मिलियन बचे थे और फंडिंग जुटाने की कोशिश नाकाम हो चुकी थी। कर्मचारियों की छंटनी हो रही थी और भविष्य अनिश्चित था।
फिर आया 24 दिसंबर 2008 का दिन।
शाम 6 बजे Tesla की फंडिंग आखिरी समय पर पूरी हुई। एलन मस्क के मुताबिक, अगर यह पैसा समय पर नहीं मिलता, तो कुछ ही दिनों में कंपनी कर्मचारियों की सैलरी देने में असमर्थ हो सकती थी।
मस्क ने अपना बचा हुआ PayPal का पैसा भी Tesla में लगा दिया।
उनका विज़न सिर्फ़ महँगी इलेक्ट्रिक कारें बेचना नहीं था। योजना थी—पहले महँगी कारों से शुरुआत करना, फिर तकनीक को बेहतर बनाकर आम लोगों के लिए सस्ती इलेक्ट्रिक कारें बनाना।
आज की सबसे बड़ी सीख:
जब दुनिया आपके आइडिया पर शक कर रही हो, तब सिर्फ़ सपना देखना काफी नहीं उसके लिए मुश्किल वक्त में टिके रहना भी जरूरी है।
