My daughter is singing herself to sleep tonight in our thankfully warm house. She’s singing about making “magic snowballs.” If I could wish one thing for myself and you, it’d be that we could approach this world with the sense of wonder that she brings to it every day.

The ads have taken a definite “as seen on TV” or “but wait, there’s more” vibe around here.

Collectively, as we explore a post-Twitter world, I hope we can recapture the spirit of adventure we use to have when making websites. Especially personal websites. Who knows what’s possible? Let’s *play*. Let’s take risks. Let’s invent. Grab some friends and do something wacky.

I feel like we're all in a plane that spiraling toward the ground and we're saying a bunch of weird shit, but then the plane's gonna run out of gas 5 feet from the ground like in Bugs Bunny and we're all gonna be looking around awkwardly

Twitter devs who got fired and face someone asking/begging you to come back and help…make sure to extort them when negotiating consulting pay. Double the most unrealistic number you can imagine from before this. It’s okay to do financial crimes against billionaires.
Gone full Howard Hughes.
Replying to @ZoeSchiffer
We're hearing this is because Elon Musk and his team are terrified employees are going to sabotage the company. Also, they're still trying to figure out which Twitter workers they need to cut access for.

Hey if you've worked at Twitter and follow me, whether it was until 5 today or it was a long time ago, or if you're still there trying to hold all this together: Thank you. You built something extraordinary that changed my life forever.

Great news everyone, "America's Crime Crisis" (trademark Fox News) is over! All it took was Election Day eliminating the perceived political benefit of talking about crime all the time, go figure. mediamatters.org/fox-news/fo…

This articulates my thoughts exactly. It’s boring, but most of us are firmly in the 90%. And I’ve seen a lot of users in the 90% with scaling problems that are exaggerated by trying to do micro services well before they needed it.

Put another way, you can scale a monolith with layers a lot easier than you can scale* distributed infrastructure. * the kind of scale the vast majority of us work on, not the white paper writing scale that FAANG companies work on.

It seems so obvious now, but I never considered that one day my sessions would be lost and I'd simply be unable to log back in, ever. This feels like the likeliest scenario

This is best thing you will see on Twitter today. What a great show Ted Lasso has turned out to be. #TedLasso #USMNT #WorldCup2022 – at Illinois, USA
“Ted Lasso” wrote a motivational message for each member of the U.S. Men's National Team going to the World Cup. They’re posted on billboards in their hometowns.

People are starting to say Elon Musk isn't actually a real engineer. But he definitely said "I don't know why people think Twitter is so complicated. I could fix it in like a weekend." And then proceeded to fuck everything up. That's exactly like an engineer.
