The Cato Institute just released its 2026 “Freedom in the 50 States” rankings.
It scores states and governors on how well they support economic and personal freedom across taxes, housing, education, guns, speech, medical choices, and more.
Governor Maura Healey in Massachusetts ranked 46th out of 50 with a score of 24.17% and a grade of "F".
Is this higher or lower than where you would expect Gov. Healey?

🚨🚨THE DEMOCRACY FILES / ILLEGITIMACY PLAYBOOK, PART 10: THE ROLE OF FOREIGN STATES🚨
(First post deleted for typo)
How is an old government declared illegitimate and a new government declared the true successor?
Months before the actual transition, the following are achieved in advance:
• Civil society and activists get prepared for big uprisings.
• Media narratives are pre-seeded.
• Foreign officials provide cover.
The last point is what this drop is all about. You saw it last night - as soon as Lula "won" the election, EU officials and Alex Soros immediately swept in with their congratulations. That is a deliberate strategy to grant Lula legitimacy, not an organic congratulations.
The idea is to saturate the people with the idea that "this is the legitimate government, and you will accept it."
In these files, we see the various NGOs strategize on how to reach out to governments in advance and prepare them for what is coming. We also revisit how USAID OTI, the regime change arm of USAID, allegedly re-organized themselves inside the country.
We record one meeting taking place between Horizons Project and Catalonia officials. That we were able to document a meeting at all is unusual, because I'm told that these meetings are generally arranged at the highest levels and kept off the record (think Jake Sullivan, Norm Eisen level).

🚨🚨THE DEMOCRACY FILES / ILLEGITIMACY PLAYBOOK, PART 9: THE BIG PICTURE 🚨
Sunday is a day of rest. Today I took a step back and asked, "where is all this money coming from?"
I'm too tired to type an actual summary. TL;DR: billions have been invested in restructuring American governance since Trump was elected. Many have warned of a color revolution because they saw the civil society apparatus (aka, having millions of people on standby to break stuff) being built in real time.
What makes 2026 different is that it's the first time we know of that we found an operational, short-term plan to actually do a coup.
Everything we've covered has been from the R2T NGO, which serves as a recording/coordinating platform of sorts for several key NGOs including the one consisting of 300 ex-USAID employees, RAD.
It's well documented in several previous drops that RAD has a tight relationship with the "Blocking" lane, now unified under the United Democracy Alliance (UDA) umbrella led by Horizons Project.
I researched the "big picture" of how UDA relates to bigger players, so to speak. This sets up the stage for later, much more consequential drops.
I think the video covers it pretty well...

Using heuristics as an edge
1/6
Thinking something through is a conversation with yourself.
So whenever you enter a trade, manage it (add, take partial profits, re-enter), or exit, it's a conversation.
Inner conversations you have while trading, other traders have too.
But even though these conversations are on the same topics, their length, clarity, and confusion vary wildly.
Some of them are like the dreaded meeting we've all sat through. They go round in circles, waffle on and seem to go nowhere.
Others are like a frustrating conversation that's either full of irrelevant detail or so brief it skips important information. Hold that thought.
You're always competing against other traders. And in doing so, you want to see opportunities before they do, act before they act, and take profits before they can.
We're told the importance of deliberate practice, which requires deliberate thinking.
Deliberate thinking is how you work out and develop the best course of action.
But when it's time to take the stage, the field or the trading screens, deliberate thinking isn't an option if musicians, athletes and traders want to perform and/or compete well.
Turning all that thinking and planning into a performance skill, while the market moves in real time, calls for a shorthand version. A rule of thumb/heuristic is the shorthand version of that mental conversation.
In the trade examples that follow, you'll see how they lead to fast, clear trade decisions.
You only have to look back at everything you've consumed about trading to know this is an uncommon topic. That's why applying rules of thumb is an edge over other traders.
Heuristic one: Is fuel used up?
The beauty of this heuristic is that it gives traders who tend to chase the market entering a trade insight into what's happening beyond price changing quickly.
Being counterintuitive, it also gives you an edge over the competition.
Starting with the counterintuitive part, traders are drawn to fast-moving price like moths to a flame.
Mostly, this leads to buying tops and selling bottoms. I say mostly because there are times when 'chasing' is the correct trade, and I have a rule of thumb for that too. But the majority of the time, when it isn't, consider this.
Let's say, having trended up for three hours prior, the market has stalled for about half an hour. It's not going down, but it's no longer going up.
That stall has some traders assuming the market will reverse, and they're now looking to get short.
If price suddenly rolls over and drops quickly, the sudden drop is the trigger for traders to chase the market and enter a short trade. If you've traded for any length of time, you know what I'm referring to, because it's the intuitive thing to do, and we've all done it.
The problem, of course, is that by the time we're short, the market flips and starts heading back up again.
From a rule-of-thumb perspective, I think of price movement as using fuel. How fast the fuel gets used depends on the speed of the move.
Say you head out to an oval for a run, and you can either sprint at your top speed or jog at a relaxed pace.
If you run flat out, you're likely to be on your back gasping for breath within a hundred metres, because you've run out of 'gas'.
But if you jog, you can do complete lap after lap before you reach that same out-of-gas state.
It's the same for price movement, but people think about it in reverse. When price is moving slowly, grinding away, many traders doubt it can keep going.
Yet it's using up buying fuel at the pace of a relaxed jog, which in turn leads to 'refuelling'.
That refuelling comes from short sellers having to cover (who've entered because they anticipate price rolling over to the downside), and from buyers who sold prematurely, also anticipating price rolling over, now having to re-enter once they see their long trade is still working.
By contrast, fast movement uses up all the stops traders have placed close to the current price.
As usual market behaviour, experienced traders don't react.
But less experienced traders enter into short positions, unknowingly refuelling the market with more buying fuel to take prices higher when they cover their shorts.
So the rule of thumb is: is fuel used up?
Of course, this is contextual, because trading is chess, not checkers. But that's all the more reason to use heuristics, because you can tie them together, like in the example below.
Heuristic two: Aggressive or defensive?
Firstly, I have a bigger-picture view chart telling me the market is ideally suited to 'Premium Long' playbook trades showing up. An indicator tells me when this is the case - which is a heuristic in itself. Note the second line in the message box: 'Defensive profit-taking when fading'.

🧵🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: Inside The New Pluralists: how billionaires weaponized the Biden Administration, targeted Charlie Kirk, and are quietly financing America’s color revolution 🚨🚨
In 2017, a quiet meeting brought representatives of Soros, Koch, Rockefeller, and Ford foundations together for one purpose: to rethink how philanthropy influences politics.
Out of that meeting came the “New Pluralists,” a coalition that would go on to shape the Biden White House’s United We Stand summit, fund censorship-adjacent projects, and eventually intersect with investigations into Turning Point USA ... and the color revolution that's brewing in the United States now.

🚨🚨 THE DEMOCRACY FILES / ILLEGITIMACY PLAYBOOK, PART 7: THE SECRET MEGA-ALLIANCE WAITING FOR A RED LINE TO BE CROSSED 🚨
What do you call a mega-alliance that:
• Covers hundreds, if not thousands, of protest organizations
• Covers all the lawfare-related organizations
• Liasions with governors when a Constitutional crisis is crossed
• Consults federal workers on how to block emergency efforts
• Runs a situation room for the midterms and beyond
• Is credited to regime change expert and professor Erica Chenoweth
• Is operationalized by National Security Leaders for America, an organization of 1,600 retired officers, spies, and diplomats
• ... and determines the "red lines" for mobilization of the above?
Meet the United Democracy Alliance (UDA).
UDA is the secret alliance behind the messaging we saw this week:
• JB Pritzker's warning that states will "strongly resist"
• Governor Newsom's office declaring a "CODE RED"
• Norm Eisen talking about "war rooms"
• Slotkin predicting a "national security incident"
You will not find any mentions of the United Democracy Alliance (UDA) on the web. It is a mega-alliance of resistance NGOs ready to deploy on a moment's notice, monitoring every action President Trump takes and monitoring every polling place.
We only can put together the pieces by recordings. Some key quotes:
• "if there's a moment where there's a constitutional crisis, like one of the UDA four red lines, if they get crossed… governors then become the kind of lead anchor for political power." (Zeitz, Aug 6)
• "the big, big, big, big, big tent that's being organized in the blocking community so that if there is a red line crossed in terms of a constitutional crisis, like, everybody's already pre-organized." (Reiff, Aug 5)
• "We are also starting to consult federal workers on how to do some blocking inside the govt agencies during emergency situations" (Eric Manton, Zoom chat, Aug 6)
According to @JeffClarkUS , the last point above about federal workers conspiring to block emergency responses may violate serious statutes. More on federal workers involvement in Drop 8.

🚨🚨 THE ILLEGITIMACY PLAYBOOK / THE DEMOCRACY FILES: A PRIMER 🚨
I will be using this thread to track all drops, so bookmark it.
I spent most of yesterday backing everything (now 312 gigabytes) up in various sources and getting the materials out to others. I also produced an AI video (below) to explain the whole thing to others are not on 𝕏 - feel free to distribute.
Here's the primer:
USAID, the foreign aid agency, had a democracy office. Inside the agency, it was called DRG.
Officially, DRG administered "democracy assistance." They'd go inside countries they thought were sliding into authoritarianism and help the opposition there. That assistance included election monitoring, judicary support, independent media, and civil society building.
You may have heard the term "color revolution." The model comes from Serbia in 2000, where trained student activists brought down Milosevic with the help of Western governments, after sustained protests. With the help of USAID's democracy office, this model was implemented in many other countries to topple governments: Georgia's "Rose Revolution" in 2003, Ukraine's "Orange Revolution" in 2004, and many more.
Then last year, DOGE shut down USAID. But the USAID democracy office didn't stop. They formed a group called the Democracy Renewal Group, the same initials as their office (USAID Democracy, Human Rights, Governance). Their goal: apply their own playbook to the United States itself.
This goal became a plan, called Renew American Democracy (RAD). It invoked the "4 B's" framework. Block - use lawfare and protests to make life harder for the Trump administration. Bridge & Belong - control dialogue and win people over. The final and most important B is Build. Build means redesigning the American government itself, and the crisis is the opening.
In their own words:
"We can take that breakdown moment and leverage it for a big structural reform, you know, refounding moment." - Danielle Reiff, DRG lead.
Calls show DRG working alongside DSA on ideas of creating a different government, one that does away with the Constitution itself.
DRG does not run the Block operations. They hand it to UDA, the United Democracy Alliance. One organizer calls it a "huge galaxy": lawsuits, street protests, non-cooperation. They list No Kings, Indivisible, MoveOn, 50501, and many other mega-activist NGOs among their members.
Another organizer calls UDA Erica Chenoweth's project. Chenoweth is the Harvard professor behind the three-and-half-percent rule of regime change: get that share of a country's populace onto the streets, and historically, the movement wins.
The UDA is very "hush-hush." They have no website, no roster, no filings.
Then come the red lines: things the Trump administration could do, such as calling the Insurrection Act on protesters, that would mean that the federal government, in their words, "crosses the threshold into illegitimacy." Nobody voted on those lines. There was no public debate. These red lines were developed within secretive working groups, and in a paper addressed to governors and staff.
In the words of Reiff/DRG:
"So that if there is a red line crossed in terms of a Constitutional crisis, like everyone's already pre-organized. And so Mike Smith actually said, he goes, oh, you guys have the day after tomorrow plan."
Cross a line, and the paper's options include states refusing to lend their resources to federal officials, and governors convening what it calls a "Third Continential Congress."
Running the UDA's Insurrection Act working group: Rear Admiral Mike Smith (RET) of National Security Leaders of America (NSL4A). NSL4A is also credited with operationalizing UDA, the blocking operations. NSL4A consists of about 1,600 ex-officers, spies, diplomats. They're turning red lines into indicators and running a situation room to monitor them throughout the midterms and beyond.
The NSL4A's lawyers told them to stop recording meetings in case of subpoenas. But the rest of the network continued to record. DRG works in conjunction with Renew to Thrive (R2T), which ended up accidentally publishing 400+ calls and thousands of documents. These calls and documents were never meant for our eyes, but it's them, on tape.
Thousands of NGOs and billions of dollars are involved in this endeavor. Most of them believe they're saving democracy. The problem is that people who spent their careers deciding when other countries' governments had lost their legitimacy wrote that test for ours, in private, and planned for what comes after.
Who decides when your government is legitimate?
